1. Job Purpose
To ensure that fasteners manufactured through Cold Forging, Thread Rolling and Plating / Surface Treatment meet specified dimensional, visual, functional and customer quality requirements through effective in-process inspection and process control.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. In-Process Inspection
- Conduct in-process inspection at Cold Forging, Thread Rolling and Plating / Surface Treatment stages.
- Inspect components as per approved drawings, control plans, inspection standards and work instructions.
- Verify critical dimensions such as:
- Length
- Head diameter
- Head height
- Shank diameter
- Thread dimensions
- Pitch
- Thread length
- Chamfer and radius
- Across flats / across corners, wherever applicable.
- Monitor process parameters and ensure production is carried out within specified limits.
- Identify and segregate NG / rejected components to prevent mixing with accepted material.
- Ensure proper identification and traceability of inspected batches.
B. Thread Inspection
- Inspect threads using appropriate GO / NO-GO gauges, thread ring gauges, thread plug gauges and measuring instruments.
- Check thread profile, pitch, thread length and other customer-specific requirements.
- Monitor thread rolling process and immediately report abnormal conditions.
- Ensure proper calibration status of gauges and measuring instruments.
C. Plating / Surface Treatment Inspection
- Carry out in-process and final inspection of plated fasteners.
- Check plating appearance, colour, uniformity, coating condition and surface defects.
- Verify coating thickness using appropriate measuring equipment such as coating thickness gauge / XRF, wherever applicable.
