The CAD/CAM Programmer will be responsible for developing and implementing detailed design plans for manufacturing processes using CAD and CAM software. This role requires proficiency in creating digital models, generating machine tool paths, and ensuring that designs are optimised for production. The CAD/CAM Programmer will work closely with engineers, machinists, and production teams to ensure smooth production flows and high-quality outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Modeling:
- Use CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or Inventor) to create, modify, and optimize 3D models and technical drawings based on project requirements.
- Translate conceptual designs into workable manufacturing specifications.
- Ensure that designs comply with technical, safety, and industry standards.
- Programming:
- Develop VMC programs for machining operations (milling, turning, etc.) using CAM software (such as Mastercam).
- Generate tool paths, simulate machining processes, and verify program accuracy.
- Modify and adjust programs based on machine feedback or design changes.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers and product designers to translate design concepts into manufacturable products.
- Assist in creating prototypes and making adjustments based on real-world testing.
- Collaborate with machinists and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and optimized for machine operations.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that CAD models and CNC programs meet quality standards and manufacturing tolerances.
- Perform regular checks on machine setups and manufacturing processes to ensure consistent quality output.
- Address and troubleshoot any issues during the production process.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain and update CAD/CAM files, records, and documentation.
- Provide detailed instructions, machine setups, and tooling lists for production.
- Maintain records of changes made to design or program and communicate these effectively
