. DG Operation Operate the Diesel Generator (DG) safely as per manufacturer instructions. Start and stop the DG as per approved procedure. Monitor DG load, voltage, frequency, current and running hours. Check diesel, engine oil and coolant levels before operation. Ensure DG is operated only by an authorized and competent operator. 2. Daily Inspection Check for fuel/oil/coolant leakage. Check battery condition and charging system. Check belts, hoses, radiator and engine condition. Check exhaust system and ventilation. Check emergency stop and safety devices. Report any abnormal noise, vibration, smoke or overheating immediately. 3. Safety Responsibilities Maintain proper housekeeping around the DG area. Ensure fire extinguishers are available and accessible. Do not allow unauthorized persons inside the DG room/area. Keep combustible materials away from the DG. Use required PPE such as safety shoes, helmet, gloves and hearing protection where required. Never carry out electrical or mechanical maintenance while the DG is running unless specifically authorized and safe for the task. 4.
Records & Documentation Maintain the DG Operation Register. Record start/stop time, running hours and diesel consumption. Record meter readings and any abnormalities. Maintain maintenance and breakdown records. Inform HSE/Engineering immediately about unsafe conditions or defects. 5. Emergency Duties Immediately stop the DG during fire, major fuel/oil leakage, abnormal overheating, electrical fault or other reliable emergency. Inform Engineering/HSE/Security as applicable. Use the emergency stop system when required. Assist during emergency response and evacuation as instructed. 6. Maintenance Coordination Inform the Engineering team about preventive maintenance requirements. Do not operate defective equipment without proper authorization. Support authorized technicians during inspection and maintenance. Ensure proper isolation/LOTO before maintenance work where applicable.
