An MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) supervisor in a hospital ensures the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of critical utility systems. Their primary duties include overseeing HVAC, medical gas pipelines, backup power, water supply, and routine maintenance to support uninterrupted patient care and strict health standards.
Maintenance and Operations
- Manage daily upkeep of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Run routine checks on backup generators, transformers, and electrical panels.
- Monitor HVAC systems, chillers, and air handling units (AHUs) for clean and regulated hospital air.
- Inspect medical gas pipelines (oxygen, vacuum, nitrous oxide) for safe pressure and zero leaks.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all engineering tasks follow local health and safety rules.
- Meet hospital accreditation standards (such as NABH or international equivalents).
- Test fire alarms, sprinklers, and smoke control systems regularly.
- Keep exact logs of equipment checks, repairs, and safety audits.
Team and Workflow Management
- Lead and assign daily tasks to technicians, electricians, and plumbers.
- Create and run preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules to stop sudden machine failures.
- Fix emergency breakdowns quickly to protect critical areas like the ICU and operation theatres.
- Track spare parts inventory and order materials before stock runs low.
Eligibility:
- B.E. Mechanical or B. E. Electrical, Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in supervision.
- Experience in hospitals, healthcare facilities, preferred.
