Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified and responsible Staff Nurse to provide safe and productive nursing care to patients in an Eye Hospital. The candidate will assist doctors and the surgical team in OPD, pre-operative, operative and post-operative patient care while maintaining proper infection-control and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to OPD, day-care and surgical patients.
- Perform and record vital signs, BP, pulse, temperature, SpO₂ and blood sugar as required.
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures and surgeries.
- Complete pre-operative checklist and verify patient documentation before surgery.
- Administer prescribed medicines, eye drops and injections as per doctor's instructions.
- Assist ophthalmologists and OT team during procedures/surgeries when required.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients and attendants.
- Monitor patients during recovery and immediately report any abnormal findings to the doctor.
- Maintain proper nursing records, medication records and patient documentation.
- Follow infection-control, biomedical waste management and patient-safety protocols.
- Maintain emergency medicines, crash cart and nursing supplies and regularly check their expiry dates.
- Coordinate with Doctors, OT, Optometry, Reception and Counselling teams for smooth patient flow.
- Ensure proper handover of patients and nursing responsibilities between shifts.
- Maintain professional behaviour, patient confidentiality and a patient-friendly approach.
Qualification
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing
- Valid Nursing Registration preferred/required as applicable.
- Basic knowledge of emergency patient management and infection-control practices.
Experience
- 1–3 years of nursing experience preferred.
