The Sewing Machine Mechanic is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial sewing machines and related equipment used in garment manufacturing operations. The role ensures smooth machine functioning to achieve production targets with minimum downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of sewing machines and allied equipment.
- Attend machine breakdowns promptly and minimize production downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues in sewing machines.
- Repair and replace defective machine parts such as motors, needles, loopers, belts, hooks, bearings, and sensors.
- Conduct regular machine servicing and lubrication as per maintenance schedule.
- Set up and adjust machines according to production requirements and styles.
- Ensure proper machine performance, stitch quality, and operational safety.
- Maintain maintenance records, machine history cards, and spare parts usage details.
- Coordinate with Production, IE,
and Quality teams during machine setup and troubleshooting.
- Monitor machine efficiency and recommend improvements for productivity enhancement.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts and tools.
- Follow safety procedures and housekeeping standards in the maintenance area.
- Support installation and commissioning of recent machines.
- Train operators on basic machine handling and maintenance practices.
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant technical field.
- Certification in sewing machine maintenance will be an added advantage.
