Job responsibilities for neurotechnologist:
EEG,NCS, EMG A neurotechnologist specializing in EEG, NCS, and EMG operates specialized medical equipment to record electrical patterns from the brain, nerves, and muscles. They prepare patients, ensure accurate data acquisition, maintain clinical equipment, and collaborate with neurologists to assist in diagnosing nervous system disorders.
Patient Care & Preparation
- Greet patients, review clinical history, and address concerns.
- Explain EEG (brain wave), NCS (nerve speed), and EMG (muscle electrical) test steps.
- Position patients comfortably and ensure safety throughout procedures.
Test Execution & Monitoring
- Apply scalp electrodes with paste or gel for EEG tests.
- Place surface or needle electrodes to assist with EMG and NCS procedures.
- Monitor real-time signal quality, artifacts,
and physiological responses.
Equipment Maintenance
- Calibrate, test, and troubleshoot neurodiagnostic hardware and software.
- Clean and sterilize reusable accessories following infection control rules.
- Report malfunctions and arrange technical service when needed.
Data & Reporting
- Label, archive, and organize digital test data securely.
- Generate technical summaries or preliminary logs for the supervising physician.
- Maintain electronic health records with strict patient confidentiality.
