Housekeeping Staff – Job Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of all hospital areas.
- Clean and disinfect wards, ICU/HDU, dialysis areas, OPD, corridors and common areas as per hospital protocol.
- Follow proper infection-control and biomedical waste management practices.
- Ensure correct segregation and disposal of biomedical waste as per colour-coded bins.
- Perform regular cleaning of floors, beds, furniture, washrooms, doors and high-touch surfaces.
- Ensure timely cleaning and disinfection of patient-care areas after discharge/transfer.
- Maintain cleanliness of washrooms and drinking-water areas.
- Use appropriate PPE and cleaning chemicals safely.
- Maintain housekeeping checklists and cleaning records.
- Immediately report spills, contamination, damaged equipment or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Maintain adequate stock of cleaning materials, disinfectants, PPE and housekeeping supplies.




- Follow spill-management and infection-prevention protocols.
- Coordinate with nursing, infection-control and administration teams.
- Maintain a professional, respectful and patient-friendly attitude.
- Participate in NABH inspections, audits, training and hospital quality-improvement activities.
