Work Timing: Flexible Working Hours
PCB Design Engineer — Contract (Hourly) — ESP32-C3 Motor Controller Product Line
About the project
We're building a product line of ESP32-C3 based devices — controllers,
receivers, and sensor units — communicating over ESP-NOW, and moving into
production. Firmware is already built in-house. We're looking for a PCB design
contractor to own the hardware side — designing the production carrier board
around a pre-certified ESP32-C3 module — with room for ongoing work as the
product line expands.
Scope of work
- Schematic capture for a carrier board around an ESP32-C3 module (no custom
RF/antenna design needed — module handles that)
- Motor driver circuit integration and trace/copper sizing for motor current
- Power regulation (buck/LDO) and decoupling
- Connector and mounting layout
- Generate fab-ready Gerbers/BOM/pick-and-place files for JLCPCB or PCBWay
- DFM review for manufacturability
- Revisions based on review feedback
Requirements
- ~2–3 years of hands-on PCB design experience (schematic + layout)
- Proficiency in KiCad (preferred) or Altium
- Has designed and had boards actually fabricated (JLCPCB/PCBWay or similar) —
not just simulation/coursework
- Comfortable sizing copper/traces for motor driver current, not just default
widths
- Can work independently from a rough requirements doc + reference schematics
Nice to have
- Experience with ESP32/ESP8266 or similar microcontroller carrier boards
- Familiarity with DFM for manufacturability (JLCPCB assembly service, etc.)
Contract details
- **Type:** Hourly, contract/freelance
- **Rate:** ₹200–250/hr
- **Location:** Remote
- **Deliverables:** Schematic, PCB layout files, Gerbers, BOM, brief design notes
- **Growth potential:** Ongoing work available as the product line scales
