Job Title: ICU Nurse
Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Location: ARH Hospital
Reports To: Nursing In-charge / Nursing Superintendent
Job Summary
Responsible for providing protected, effective and compassionate nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU. The ICU Nurse will continuously monitor patients, administer medications, assist doctors during procedures, maintain accurate documentation and follow hospital infection-control and patient-safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and unstable patients.
- Monitor vital signs, ECG, SpO₂, blood pressure, temperature and other parameters.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and manage patients on ventilators and other ICU equipment.
- Assist doctors during emergency procedures, intubation and other interventions.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and immediately report abnormalities to the doctor.
- Maintain proper intake/output and fluid balance records.
- Perform proper catheter,
IV line, wound and other patient-care procedures.
- Follow infection-control, hand-hygiene and biomedical-waste management protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation and patient records.
- Ensure proper checking, handling and maintenance of ICU equipment.
- Participate in emergency response and CPR/code-blue activities.
- Provide appropriate patient and family support and communication.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, NABH standards and patient-safety practices.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety and proper organization of the ICU.
- Perform shift handover with complete and accurate patient information.
Qualifications
- Education: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing.
- Registration: Valid Nursing Council registration.
- Experience: 1–3 years of ICU experience preferred. Freshers with relevant ICU training may also be considered.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of critical-care nursing.
