Scheduling: Coordinate surgical lists with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing teams to prioritize elective procedures and emergency cases.
Efficiency: Monitor theatre utilization metrics (e.g., turnaround times, on-time starts) to optimize workflow and reduce wait times.
Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between the OT and ancillary services like Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), the blood bank, laboratory, and biomedical engineering.
Scheduling: Prepare duty rosters, shift allocations, and ensure adequate coverage for both routine operations and on-call emergencies.
Team Management: Supervise nurses, technicians, and support staff. Handle performance evaluations, mentoring, and continuous competency training
Infection Control: Monitor and enforce strict sterilization protocols, biomedical waste segregation, and environmental cleanliness.
Compliance:
Ensure adherence to clinical standards such as the Surgical Safety Checklist and national accreditation guidelines (e.g., NABH or JCI).
Incident Management: Investigate adverse events or near-misses and implement corrective action plans.
Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels of surgical consumables, implants, and medicines to prevent shortages or wastage.
Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering for routine preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of critical surgical equipment.
