A Senior Accountant specializing in GST (Goods and Services Tax) is responsible for ensuring compliance with tax laws, managing GST filings, and optimizing tax workflows. They oversee reconciliation processes, handle audits, and provide strategic tax advice to management. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]Key Responsibilities
GST Compliance: Prepare, verify, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual GST returns (such as GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and GSTR-9/9C).
Input Tax Credit (ITC): Reconcile purchase registers with GSTR-2B/2A to maximize accurate ITC claims and minimize leakages.
Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile electronic liability, cash, and credit ledgers on the GST portal with internal books.
Audit Management: Statutory, internal, and government GST audits coordination.
E-Invoicing & E-Way Bills: Monitor and ensure timely generation of e-invoices and e-way bills for compliant goods movement.
Refund Processing: Prepare and track documentation for GST refund claims on exports or inverted duty structures.
Advisory & Updates: Interpret current GST amendments, assess business impacts, and update internal financial processes accordingly.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (CA, CMA, or MBA Finance preferred).
Experience: 4–7 years of core accounting experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to GST compliance.
Software Tools: Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or Tally Prime) and Microsoft Excel (vlookup, pivot tables).
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of CGST, SGST, and IGST laws, place of supply rules, and reverse charge mechanisms (RCM
