Robust data engineering and production software engineering skills. The emphasis is more on the SDLC. i.e. NextData OS brings common practices from services software development to data engineering (e.g. CI/CD, testing, data APIs, CLIs as the main DX) . i.e. candidates coming from other software engineering backgrounds are better suited for data product development on Nextdata OS than engineers who have spent their entire careers predominantly in data engineering.
Experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining Python+SQL-based data applications.
Familiarity with building data solutions for agentic consumption (e.g. talk to data, semantic layer for agents, evals and benchmarks, MCPs, harnesses, skills, evaluations, context management). Acknowledging that this is a recent space for a lot of engineers (i.e. familiarity is enough, Nextdata OS does the main heavy lifting here).
Familiarity with using agentic coding harnesses to build solutions with AI. Familiarity is enough, Nextdata OS ships with agent SDK that will help with onboarding.
Experience with one of the data computing environments i.e. (e.g., Snowflake) is required.
