Senior Resident – Cardiac Anaesthesia

Reports to: Consultant / Head of Cardiac Anaesthesia

Key responsibilities
Provide perioperative anaesthesia care for adult and paediatric cardiac surgery patients.
Preoperative assessment and optimisation of patients undergoing cardiac procedures.
Conduct and assist with general anaesthesia for CABG, valve surgery, congenital heart surgery, aortic surgery and other major cardiac procedures.
Manage high-risk and critically ill cardiac patients in the ICU.
Perform/assist with invasive monitoring including arterial and central venous access.
Exposure to TEE/TOE and perioperative echocardiography is desirable.
Manage postoperative haemodynamic instability, bleeding, arrhythmias and other complications.
Participate in emergency cardiac surgery and on-call duties.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in morbidity/mortality meetings and academic activities.
Teach and supervise junior residents and trainees.
