As we continue to scale, we are looking for a strong Finance Head who can build and manage a robust, scalable and business-oriented finance function.
This is a hands-on leadership role with ownership of the complete Finance & Accounts function — from day-to day accounting and statutory compliance to financial controls, MIS, cash flow, working capital, audits, budgeting, forecasting and business finance.
The person should be comfortable operating in a startup environment where processes are continuously evolving and where the Finance function needs to be both accurate and agile.
Role Purpose
The Finance Head will own the complete end-to-end Finance & Accounts function at MrMed.
The role will be responsible for ensuring that the company's books are accurate, financial controls are strong, statutory obligations are met, cash flows are well managed, management has timely financial visibility, and the Finance function is capable of supporting the company's next stage of growth.
We are looking for someone who can go beyond traditional accounting and bring advanced accounting knowledge, commercial understanding, financial discipline and strong people leadership.
The ideal candidate should be equally comfortable:
o Reviewing a ledger and closing books
o Building a cash-flow forecast
o Reviewing revenue and gross margin
o Understanding e-commerce transactions
o Managing inventory accounting
o Reviewing payment gateway reconciliations
o Handling statutory and tax matters
o Building MIS and management dashboards
o Working with auditors
o Managing vendors and working capital o Improving financial controls
o Advising leadership on business decisions o Building and developing a strong Finance team
Key Responsibilities
1. Complete End-to-End Accounting Ownership
Own the entire accounting function from transaction entry to final financial statements.
o Manage the complete accounting cycle including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, revenue, expenses, fixed assets, provisions and accruals.
o Own monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing.
o Ensure accurate and timely preparation of:
o Profit & Loss Statement
o Balance Sheet
o Cash Flow Statement
o Trial Balance
o General Ledger
o Schedules and supporting statements
o Review accounting entries, journal vouchers, provisions, accruals and adjustments. o Ensure timely bank, vendor, customer, inter-company and control account reconciliations. o Establish appropriate accounting policies and ensure consistent application.
o Maintain a clean and audit-ready accounting environment.
o Ensure proper accounting documentation and audit trails.
2. Advanced Accounting & Financial Reporting
Bring strong technical accounting capability to a growing startup environment.
o Apply advanced accounting principles to complex and non-routine transactions. o Ensure appropriate revenue recognition and expense recognition.
o Manage provisions, accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation and amortisation. o Handle fixed asset accounting and capitalisation.
o Review inventory valuation and accounting.
o Account for purchase returns, sales returns, credit notes, discounts and refunds. o Review treatment of advances, deposits, security deposits and other balance sheet items. o Ensure proper month-end and year-end adjustments.
o Prepare and review financial schedules and supporting documentation.
o Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
o Identify accounting risks and recommend appropriate treatment for new or unusual transactions.
3. E-commerce & B2C Finance
The candidate should understand the financial complexities of a B2C e-commerce business.
o Manage accounting and reconciliation of online customer transactions.
o Reconcile payment gateways, banks,
payment aggregators and order management systems.
o Monitor payment settlement cycles and outstanding reconciliations.
o Account for cancellations, refunds, returns, failed transactions and chargebacks. o Ensure accurate reconciliation between orders, invoices, collections and accounting records. o Review revenue recognition across different transaction types.
o Monitor discounts, promotional schemes, customer credits and other commercial adjustments. o Work closely with Technology and Operations teams to resolve transaction-level financial mismatches.
4. Inventory & Pharmacy Business Accounting
Given the nature of MrMed's business, strong understanding of inventory accounting is important.
o Own accounting controls around inventory purchases and movement.
o Reconcile physical inventory with system and accounting records.
o Review stock adjustments, damages, expiry, returns and write-offs.
o Monitor inventory valuation and provisions.
o Work with Procurement and Operations teams to improve inventory accuracy.
o Track inventory ageing and working capital impact.
o Identify inventory-related financial leakages and control gaps.
o Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for vendor returns and purchase adjustments.
5. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
o Own the complete AP and AR process.
o Ensure accurate vendor accounting and timely vendor reconciliations.
o Establish proper payment controls and approval workflows.
o Monitor outstanding vendor balances and payment commitments.
o Track customer receivables and collection ageing.
o Prepare and monitor ageing reports.
o Identify overdue balances and ensure timely follow-up.
o Improve payment and collection processes while maintaining healthy vendor and customer relationships.
6. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
Own and oversee all applicable statutory finance compliances.
o GST compliance and reconciliations.
o TDS compliance.
o Income tax matters and coordination with tax advisors.
o Advance tax and tax planning support.
o Statutory filings and financial documentation.
o Ensure timely payment of statutory dues.
o Review tax reconciliations and identify potential exposures.
o Coordinate with external tax consultants and advisors.
o Ensure proper documentation for tax assessments and notices.
o Keep the organisation updated on relevant changes in accounting and taxation requirements. 7. Audit Management
Own the complete audit lifecycle.
o Lead statutory audit coordination.
o Coordinate internal audits and financial reviews.
o Work closely with auditors to ensure timely closure.
o Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
o Address audit queries and observations.
o Track audit findings and ensure timely corrective actions.
o Strengthen internal controls based on audit observations.
o Ensure books and records remain continuously audit-ready.
8. Financial Controls & Governance
Build a strong financial control environment suitable for a growing startup.
o Establish and strengthen financial policies, processes and approval matrices. o Implement appropriate maker-checker controls.
o Review financial risks and control weaknesses.
o Strengthen controls around procurement, payments, expenses, inventory and revenue. o Prevent financial leakage and identify unusual transactions.
o Ensure proper segregation of duties.
o Establish periodic control reviews.
o Build processes that can scale with the organisation rather than relying heavily on manual intervention.
9. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Take ownership of the company's cash visibility and liquidity.
o Prepare weekly and monthly cash-flow forecasts.
o Monitor cash inflows and outflows.
o Maintain visibility of available cash and future commitments.
o Manage vendor payment planning.
o Monitor payment gateway settlements and collection cycles.
o Optimise working capital.
o Identify potential cash-flow risks early.
o Support leadership in cash allocation and prioritisation.
o Maintain strong banking relationships.
10.
MIS & Management Reporting
Convert financial data into useful business insights.
Prepare and present regular management reports covering:
o Revenue
o Gross margin
o Contribution margin
o Operating expenses
o EBITDA
o Cash flow
o Working capital
o Inventory
o Accounts receivable
o Accounts payable
o Budget vs actuals
o Business-wise / channel-wise profitability o Key financial variances
The Finance Head should be able to explain the story behind the numbers, not simply provide reports.
11. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
o Lead the annual budgeting process.
o Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts.
o Track actual performance against budgets.
o Analyse significant variances.
o Work with functional leaders to improve budget ownership.
o Build financial models for new initiatives.
o Support leadership in evaluating new locations, business opportunities and investments. o Provide scenario analysis for key business decisions.
12. Business Finance & Commercial Understanding
The role will act as a Finance Business Partner to the leadership team.
o Understand the economics of the B2C HealthTech / e-commerce business.
o Analyse revenue and profitability drivers.
o Track unit economics.
o Evaluate customer acquisition and retention economics from a financial perspective. o Analyse contribution per order / customer / channel where relevant.
o Identify areas of cost optimisation.
o Partner with Procurement to improve purchase economics.
o Partner with Operations to improve efficiency.
o Partner with Marketing to understand ROI and commercial impact.
o Provide financial inputs before major business decisions are taken.
13. Financial Systems, Automation & Process Improvement
We are looking for someone who can build a modern Finance function, not just manage spreadsheets.
o Identify opportunities to automate repetitive finance processes.
o Improve integration between accounting, ERP, payment gateways, inventory and business systems. o Build reliable MIS and dashboards.
o Reduce dependency on manual reconciliations.
o Improve data accuracy and reporting speed.
o Create scalable SOPs and finance processes.
o Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control.
14. Team Leadership & People Development
This is a leadership role with strong emphasis on building people.
o Lead, mentor and develop the Finance & Accounts team.
o Define clear roles, responsibilities and ownership.
o Build a culture of accountability without creating unnecessary pressure.
o Conduct regular one-on-one conversations and performance discussions.

Qualification & Experience
o Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
o 10–15+ years of progressive experience in Finance & Accounts.
o Strong experience managing the complete Finance & Accounts function.
o Prior experience in a startup, e-commerce, HealthTech, retail, pharmacy, FMCG or consumer business is strongly preferred.
o Experience managing a Finance / Accounts team.
o Strong experience in accounting, taxation, audit, financial reporting and controls. o Hands-on experience with ERP / accounting systems and advanced Excel.
o Experience with financial automation and MIS is an advantage.
o Robust exposure to working capital, cash-flow management and business finance.
