Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and responsible Transport Coordinator to manage day-to-day transportation, vehicle placement, dispatch, freight negotiation, vehicle tracking, and delivery operations.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience in vehicle placement, transporter coordination, freight negotiation, dispatch management, vehicle tracking, and delivery follow-up, preferably within the steel, construction materials, or heavy-material logistics industry.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, timely, safe, and cost-effective movement of steel materials from dispatch locations to customer destinations.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and coordinate daily transportation requirements based on dispatch schedules and material quantities.
- Arrange suitable vehicles for different types and quantities of steel materials.
- Ensure timely vehicle placement at loading locations.
- Coordinate with transporters, truck owners, drivers, customers, warehouses, and internal teams.
- Negotiate freight rates and ensure competitive transportation costs.
- Compare transporter quotations and select suitable transporters based on rate, availability, service quality, and reliability.
- Track vehicles from loading point until final delivery.
- Follow up regularly on vehicle placement, loading, transit, unloading, and delivery status.
- Maintain an updated database of transporters, vehicle owners, drivers, freight rates, routes, and transportation records.




- Verify vehicle and driver documents before dispatch wherever required.
- Handle transportation-related issues such as vehicle delays, breakdowns, route problems, loading delays, driver concerns, and delivery disputes.
- Coordinate with Sales, Purchase, Accounts, Warehouse, and Operations teams to ensure smooth dispatch execution.
- Communicate with customers regarding vehicle status, expected delivery time, and delivery updates.
- Monitor transportation expenses and identify opportunities for freight and logistics cost reduction.
- Maintain proper records of freight quotations, transporter payments, vehicle details, PODs, and delivery status.
- Prepare daily and periodic dispatch, vehicle tracking, transporter, freight, and MIS reports.
- Escalate major delays, delivery issues, or operational challenges to management promptly.
- Ensure all dispatches are properly coordinated and deliveries are completed within committed timelines.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with transporters and fleet operators for regular vehicle availability.

Skills & Qualifications

- Graduate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in transport coordination, logistics, dispatch, fleet operations, or transportation management.
- Strong practical knowledge of vehicle placement, freight negotiation, route planning, and transporter coordination.
- Experience managing multiple vehicles, transporters, dispatches, and deliveries simultaneously.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Google Sheets, and ERP/logistics software.
- Strong communication, negotiation, coordination, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.




- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple transportation requirements at the same time.
- Strong attention to detail, accountability, and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain accurate transportation records and MIS reports.
- Experience in the steel, construction materials, heavy-material, infrastructure, or B2B logistics industry will be an added advantage.

- Have an established understanding of the truck/transport market and transporter network.
- Be confident in negotiating freight rates with transporters.
- Be comfortable handling urgent vehicle-placement requirements.
- Have strong follow-up skills and the ability to continuously track vehicles.
- Be capable of handling multiple dispatches across different locations.
- Take ownership of transportation issues until they are resolved.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced B2B steel trading environment.
