CT Scan Technician
Department: Radiology
Job Summary
The CT Scan Technician is responsible for operating computed tomography (CT) equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images for physicians and radiologists. The technician prepares and positions patients, follows imaging protocols, maintains radiation safety standards, and ensures accurate documentation and patient care throughout the procedure.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate CT scanning equipment safely and efficiently.
· Prepare, position, and educate patients before CT examinations.
· Verify patient identity, examination orders, and relevant medical history.
· Administer contrast media as authorized and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
· Select appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters according to department guidelines.
· Obtain high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing unnecessary radiation exposure.
· Follow radiation protection and infection-control procedures.
· Monitor patients during and after examinations and respond appropriately to emergencies.
· Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures, contrast administration, and relevant observations.
· Perform routine quality checks and report equipment problems or malfunctions.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized CT examination area.
· Coordinate with radiologists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
· Follow hospital policies, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
· Participate in continuing education and maintain required certifications and competencies.
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Radiologic Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, or a related field.
· Relevant certification or registration as required by local regulations.
· Previous experience in CT imaging is preferred.
· Knowledge of CT protocols, radiation safety, and contrast procedures.
· Basic computer and electronic medical record skills.

· Attention to detail and accurate documentation.
· Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
· Valuable knowledge of anatomy and CT imaging techniques.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Working Conditions
The role involves working in a hospital, diagnostic centre, or imaging facility. The technician may work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays, depending on the requirements.
