Job Summary

The Junior Merchandiser – Sourcing & Product Development will support the sourcing and merchandising team in vendor coordination, product development, sample management, costing, and order execution. The role requires close coordination with suppliers, design, quality, and production teams to ensure timely development and successful execution of collections while maintaining quality and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

- Coordinate with vendors for new developments based on design briefs and tech packs.
- Follow up on proto samples, fit samples, salesman samples, and production samples.
- Ensure samples are received as per the development calendar.
- Track comments and communicate revisions to suppliers.
- Maintain sample records and development status reports.

Vendor Sourcing & Management

- Identify and support onboarding of new suppliers for apparel, innerwear, accessories, and related categories.
- Develop relationships with existing vendors for timely execution.
- Coordinate with suppliers on fabric, trims, accessories, and packaging developments.
- Monitor supplier performance on quality, lead time, and responsiveness.

Costing & Commercial Support

- Collect and compare quotations from multiple suppliers.
- Assist in preparing product costing sheets.




- Negotiate basic commercial terms under the guidance of senior merchandisers.
- Ensure costing aligns with target margins.

Order & Production Coordination

- Issue purchase orders and maintain order trackers.
- Follow up on raw material availability and production status.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Escalate delays and propose corrective actions.

Documentation & MIS

- Maintain merchandising files and supplier databases.
- Prepare weekly development and production reports.
- Update costing sheets, order trackers, and sample status reports.
- Ensure all approvals and documentation are properly recorded.

Cross-functional Coordination

- Liaise with Design, Quality Assurance, Planning, Logistics, and Warehouse teams.
- Support product handover from development to production.
- Coordinate inspection schedules where required.

Skills Required

- Good understanding of apparel manufacturing and sourcing processes.
- Knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction, and product development.
- Strong communication and vendor management skills.
- Positive negotiation and follow-up abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude with willingness to learn.

Pay: ₹13,256.02 - ₹20,000.00 per month
