1. Job Summary
Responsible for dispensing medicines safely and accurately, maintaining pharmacy records and inventory, ensuring proper storage of medicines, and supporting secure and effective medication management as per hospital policies and NABH requirements.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Dispense medicines against valid prescriptions and verify the prescription before dispensing.
- Check medicine name, strength, dosage, quantity, expiry date and batch number.
- Provide appropriate instructions to patients regarding dosage, timing and method of administration.
- Maintain proper storage of medicines according to manufacturer and hospital requirements.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of medicines and consumables.
- Check near-expiry and expired medicines regularly and maintain records.
- Maintain records for controlled, high-alert and emergency medicines as applicable.
- Prepare purchase/indent requirements based on stock levels and consumption.
- Receive medicines and verify quantity, batch number, expiry date and condition.
- Maintain pharmacy registers, invoices, stock records and other required documentation.
- Follow FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles for inventory management.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of expired/damaged medicines.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, stores and other departments regarding medication requirements.
- Identify and report medication errors, adverse drug reactions and drug-related concerns to the concerned authority.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and prescription information.
- Participate in pharmacy audits, NABH activities, quality improvement programmes and training.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety and discipline within the pharmacy.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, infection-control practices and applicable statutory requirements.
3. Qualifications
- B.Pharm / D.Pharm from a recognized institution.
- Valid Pharmacy Council Registration.
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer and pharmacy software.
4. Skills Required
- Good knowledge of medicines and prescriptions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Inventory and stock management skills.
- Ability to work in a hospital team environment.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Good documentation skills.
5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy of medication dispensing.
- Compliance with prescription and dispensing procedures.
- Stock availability and inventory accuracy.
- Reduction in medicine wastage and expiry.
- Proper maintenance of pharmacy records.
- Compliance with NABH and hospital policies.
- Timely reporting of medication-related incidents.
6. Working Conditions
- Full-time hospital duty.
- Shift duty may be applicable depending on hospital requirements.
- May be required to work on weekends and public holidays as per duty roster.
Pay: ₹11,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
