Job Summary
Operate and set up CNC machines to manufacture high-quality components while ensuring safety, accuracy, productivity, and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines by installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
- Load CNC programs and make basic offset adjustments when required.
- Operate CNC lathes, milling machines, or machining centers.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Measure finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure product quality.
- Monitor machine performance and identify machining issues.
- Replace worn cutting tools and perform tool offset corrections.
- Maintain production records and inspection reports.
- Follow production schedules and achieve daily output targets.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a safe and clean work workplace by following safety procedures.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T; (preferred).
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Haas CNC controls (depending on the company).
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork.
Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Machinist, Turner, or equivalent.
- 1–5 years of experience as a CNC Machine Operator/Setter (experience requirements may vary).
- Freshers with relevant CNC training may be considered for trainee positions.
