- Develop welding processes for recent components and assemblies.
- Set up and optimise TIG/GTAW welding parameters.
- Conduct welding trials and develop production parameters.
- Select tungsten electrodes, filler materials, shielding gases and welding parameters.
- Develop welding sequences to minimise distortion.
- Develop and improve welding fixtures and jigs.
- Support production during first-off and prototype welding.
- Troubleshoot weld defects such as porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, cracking and distortion.
- Analyse welding problems and implement corrective actions.
- Develop standard welding parameters and work instructions.
- Train and support welding operators.
- Monitor welding quality and process consistency.
- Work closely with the Welding Engineer, Production and Quality teams.
- Support new-product development and prototype builds.
- Improve welding cycle time and productivity.
- Evaluate opportunities for welding automation and mechanisation.
- Maintain welding process records and trial reports.
- Assist in implementing WPS requirements on the shop floor.
- Ensure correct welding consumables and gases are used.
- Support inspection and NDT activities.
- Maintain proper housekeeping, safety and welding-process discipline.

Technical Skills Required

- Strong hands-on experience in TIG/GTAW welding.
- Experience with stainless steel welding.
- Carbon steel welding experience.
- Aluminium TIG welding experience is an advantage.
- Good understanding of welding parameters.
- Knowledge of tungsten selection and grinding.
- Knowledge of filler-wire selection.
- Understanding of shielding gas selection and gas flow.
- Knowledge of welding joint preparation.




- Understanding of weld penetration and heat input.
- Knowledge of welding defects and troubleshooting.
- Experience with welding fixtures and jigs.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Valuable knowledge of dimensional inspection.
- Basic knowledge of WPS/PQR/WPQ.
- Basic knowledge of ASME Section IX is preferred.
- Ability to train and guide welders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Welding, Manufacturing or Metallurgy Engineering.
- 3–7 years of practical welding/application engineering experience.
- Experience in pressure vessel, process equipment, aerospace, automotive, industrial fabrication or precision engineering is preferred.
- Welding certification from AWS/IIW or equivalent is an advantage.
- NDT knowledge/certification is an advantage.

- Orbital TIG welding

- Stainless steel pressure vessels
- Aluminium TIG welding
- Welding positioners
- Automatic/semi-automatic TIG
- Robotic welding
- Welding fixture design
- Welding parameter optimisation
- High-purity/clean welding applications

will be preferred.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a hands-on technical person, not someone limited to documentation.

The candidate should be comfortable working directly on the shop floor, conducting welding trials, solving welding problems and supporting operators.
