Job Title: Lab Technician / Home Collection Phlebotomist
Department: Laboratory Medicine
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Lab Manager
Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated, skilled, and skilled Lab Technician and Home Collection Representative to manage both diagnostic laboratory procedures and field-based patient sample collections. The ideal candidate will be responsible for traveling to patients' residences to collect biological specimens (such as blood or urine) safely, ensuring sample integrity during transit, and performing accurate laboratory analysis, documentation, and reporting back at the primary facility.
Key Responsibilities & Duties1. Home Sample Collection (Field Duties)
- Patient Visit: Travel via two-wheeler to scheduled patient locations on time while maintaining professional and polite conduct.
- Verification & Consent: Verify patient identity against requisition forms and clearly explain the collection procedure to ease patient anxiety.
- Specimen Collection: Perform safe, high-quality venipunctures or skin punctures following strict aseptic and universal safety precautions.
- Sample Handling & Transport: Properly label, centrifuge (if required), and store specimens in temperature-controlled specimen boxes to maintain sample integrity during transit back to the laboratory.
- Field Documentation: Record patient details, generate on-spot collection receipts (if applicable), and log daily travel/collection sheets.
2. Laboratory Testing & Analysis (Lab Duties)
- Sample Processing: Receive, accession, sort, and log incoming clinical specimens into the laboratory database or register.
- Conduct Tests:
Perform routine and specialized biochemical, hematological, or pathological tests according to standardized operating procedures (SOPs).
- Quality Control: Run controls and standards, monitor equipment calibration, and ensure precision/accuracy in testing outcomes.
- Result Reporting: Record, verify, and compile test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or physical report registers and escalate critical abnormal values to senior medical staff.
3. Lab Maintenance & Safety
- Equipment Care: Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot routine laboratory instruments (e.g., centrifuges, cell counters, spectrophotometers).
- Hygiene & Waste Disposal: Adhere strictly to biohazard safety protocols, proper medical waste segregation, and daily sanitization of the work environment.
- Inventory Management: Monitor reagent and consumable stock levels, reporting requirements to the management before shortages occur.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) or Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT)
- Experience: 0 to 2 years of proven clinical or laboratory experience (Freshers with strong phlebotomy training may apply).
- Field Requirements: Must possess a valid two-wheeler driving license and a personal vehicle for home collection rounds.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate bedside manner.
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to data confidentiality.
- Ability to work efficiently under time-sensitive diagnostic deadlines
Pay: From ₹16,000.00 per month
