Job Description – HSE Trainer
Position: HSE Trainer
Assignment: HSE Training Programme for CLW Employees
Training Duration: 2 Days
Training Modules: 4 HSE Modules
1. Job Purpose
The HSE Trainer will be responsible for delivering a structured, practical, and engaging 2-day Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training programme for employees of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW).
The trainer shall effectively cover four identified HSE training modules within the stipulated two-day programme, using practical industrial examples, case studies, interactive discussions, and suitable training aids to ensure effective understanding and application of HSE principles at the workplace.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver training on all four designated HSE modules within the 2-day training schedule.
- Explain HSE concepts in a simple, practical, and industry-oriented manner.
- Conduct interactive classroom sessions using:
- Practical examples
- Industrial case studies
- Incident/accident case studies
- Group discussions
- Question-and-answer sessions
- Videos, presentations, and other relevant training aids
- Relate training content to actual workplace hazards and preventive measures.
- Encourage employee participation and develop a strong safety culture and proactive safety behaviour.
- Address participants' questions and clarify technical and practical HSE issues.
- Adapt the training approach according to the participants' level of understanding and job responsibilities.
- Emphasize the application of HSE principles in day-to-day operations and workplace activities.
- Conduct pre-training/post-training assessment or feedback sessions, wherever required.
- Maintain professional discipline and adhere to CLW's site safety and security requirements.
- Provide relevant training material/presentation content, if required by CLW.
3. Required Training Modules
The trainer shall be capable of delivering training on four HSE modules as specified by CLW/client, with adequate depth and practical application.
The final module-wise training plan shall include:
- Module 1 – Fundamentals of Process Safety
- Module 2 – Workplace Safety & Hazard Management
- Module 3 – Safe Behaviour / Safety Culture
- Module 4 – Emergency Preparedness, Incident Prevention & Response
The exact module titles and contents may be finalized in consultation with CLW prior to commencement of the programme.
4. Qualification & Experience
The trainer should preferably possess:
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environment, or a relevant discipline.
- Relevant professional certification in Industrial Safety/HSE/OSH will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering HSE/Industrial Safety training programmes for employees in manufacturing, engineering, railway, heavy industry, infrastructure, or similar industrial environments.
- Preferably 10+ years of relevant HSE/safety training experience.
- Experience in conducting training for large industrial organizations and workforces will be preferred.
- Practical knowledge of workplace hazard identification, risk assessment, accident prevention, emergency preparedness, safe work practices, and safety culture.
5. Language & Communication Skills
The trainer must have:
- Fluent spoken Hindi and English.
- Strong presentation and public-speaking skills.
- Ability to explain technical HSE subjects clearly in Hindi as well as English.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage participants and conduct interactive training sessions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees from different educational and professional backgrounds.
6. Desired Trainer Competencies
The ideal trainer should demonstrate:
- Strong command of industrial HSE concepts.
- Practical and field-oriented approach to safety training.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to use real-life industrial incidents and case studies effectively.
- Ability to motivate employees towards secure behaviour.
- Solid understanding of Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) and safety culture.
- Good knowledge of applicable HSE legislation, standards, and good industry practices.
- Professional conduct and punctuality.
- Ability to complete the prescribed four modules within the allotted two-day schedule.
7. Deliverables
The selected trainer shall be responsible for:
- Delivery of the complete 2-day HSE training programme.
- Completion of all four approved training modules.
- Training presentation/materials, as mutually agreed.
- Interactive exercises and case studies.
- Participant engagement and Q&A.;
- Pre/post-training assessment, if required.
- Training attendance/feedback documentation, where applicable.
- Submission of a brief training completion report, if required by CLW.
8. Selection Criteria
Selection of the HSE Trainer will be based on:
- Relevant HSE qualification and professional background.
- Previous experience in industrial HSE training.
- Experience with large industrial organizations.
- Ability to deliver all four modules effectively within two days.
- Fluency in Hindi and English.
- Quality of communication and presentation skills.
- Practical knowledge and ability to relate HSE concepts to real workplace situations.
- Relevant trainer profile, references, and past training assignments.
9. Engagement Requirement
The selected trainer shall be available for the complete two-day training programme at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and shall coordinate with the designated CLW representative regarding the training schedule, participant profile, venue requirements, training materials, and module-wise agenda.
Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
