Business Development Associate – FPO & Rural Enterprise Advisory

About the Role

We are building a specialised advisory practice focused on Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), rural enterprises and grassroots organisations.

Our work involves understanding business challenges faced by these organisations and helping them with business diagnosis, financial planning, funding readiness, business models and growth strategies.

We are looking for a Business Development Associate who will help us build and develop our client pipeline across India.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys research, conversations, business development and working with purpose-driven organisations.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and build a database of potential clients including FPOs, rural enterprises, NGOs, development organisations, CSR programmes and ecosystem institutions.
- Research organisations to understand their business activities, scale and potential challenges.
- Initiate conversations through telephone, email, WhatsApp and other appropriate channels.
- Understand prospects' business challenges and identify potential advisory requirements.
- Pitch our FPO Business & Funding Readiness Diagnostic and related advisory services.
- Schedule qualified meetings with the founder/consultant.
- Follow up with prospects and proposals until closure.
- Maintain a structured lead pipeline and regular reporting.
- Develop new outreach strategies and identify relevant networks and partnerships.
- Gradually develop an understanding of FPO business models, funding challenges and rural enterprises.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

- Confident and comfortable speaking to people on the phone
- Good at building relationships and following up consistently




- Curious about businesses and enjoys understanding problems
- Comfortable doing online research
- Good in English and Hindi; knowledge of other Indian languages is an advantage
- Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets and basic CRM-style tracking
- Self-driven and able to work independently in a remote setting
- Comfortable with targets and performance-linked compensation

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience in any of the following will be preferred:

- Business Development / Inside Sales
- Agriculture / Agri-business
- FPOs / Farmer Producer Organisations
- NGOs / Development Sector
- Rural enterprise development
- Consulting / Advisory
- B2B sales

An MBA or agriculture/rural management background is an advantage but not mandatory.

Compensation
