Investment Banking Trainee – Bhubaneswar (Remote)
Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha – Remote

Role Summary
The Investment Banking Trainee will support the Investment Banking and Debt Capital Markets team in business development, transaction origination, financial analysis, research, client acquisition, and execution support.
The role is suitable for a motivated finance professional or fresher looking to build a career in Investment Banking, Debt Syndication, Corporate Finance, Structured Finance, and Financial Advisory.
The candidate will work closely with senior professionals to identify prospective clients, understand their funding requirements, conduct financial and industry research, prepare client presentations and transaction materials, and support the execution of debt financing mandates.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical abilities, good communication skills, proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, attention to detail, and a strong interest in financial markets and investment banking.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Banking & Transaction Support
- Support the team in identifying and evaluating potential corporate finance and debt financing opportunities.
- Assist in execution of debt syndication, structured finance, refinancing, working capital, project finance, and other financing transactions.
- Coordinate with senior team members on transaction-related activities from initial client discussion through execution.
- Maintain transaction trackers and monitor deal milestones.
- Assist in preparing transaction summaries, funding proposals, and client presentations.
- Support the team in collecting and organizing client information and financial documents.
Business Development & Client Acquisition
- Conduct research to identify prospective corporate, SME, promoter-led, and other business clients with financing requirements.
- Assist in building and maintaining a database of prospective clients and decision-makers.
- Support senior team members in client outreach and business development activities.
- Conduct preliminary research on companies to understand their business, financial position, existing debt, and potential funding requirements.
- Assist in preparing client-specific pitches and financing proposals.
- Track leads, follow-ups, meetings, and business development opportunities.
- Support the conversion of qualified prospects into potential mandates.
Financial Analysis & Credit Assessment
- Analyze company financial statements, annual reports, and management information.
- Calculate and understand key financial and credit metrics including:
- Revenue and EBITDA
- Debt / Equity
- Leverage Ratios
- DSCR
- Interest Coverage Ratio
- Working Capital
- Operating Cash Flow
- Free Cash Flow
- Assist in evaluating borrowing capacity and broad financing requirements.
- Support debt sizing and repayment analysis.
- Assist in preparing financial models and sensitivity analyses.
- Identify key financial strengths, risks,
and areas requiring further diligence.
Financial Modelling & Excel
- Assist in developing and maintaining financial models.
- Prepare historical financial analysis and projections.
- Support debt repayment schedules and cash-flow analysis.
- Assist in scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Develop Excel-based transaction and financial analysis tools.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency of financial models and supporting assumptions.
Investment Banking Research
- Conduct industry, sector, company, and market research.
- Track developments in:
- Debt Capital Markets
- Corporate Lending
- Private Credit
- Structured Finance
- NBFC Lending
- AIFs and Alternative Credit
- Investment Banking
- Research potential borrowers, lenders, competitors, and financing opportunities.
- Monitor debt market trends, interest rates, financing structures, and sector developments.
- Prepare research notes and market intelligence reports for senior team members.
Client Presentations & Transaction Materials
Assist in preparing:
- Information Memorandums

Ensure that all presentations and analytical materials are accurate, professional, and aligned with internal standards.
Lender & Stakeholder Coordination
- Support communication and coordination with banks, NBFCs, private credit funds, AIFs, and other financial institutions.
- Assist in compiling lender requirements and transaction information.
- Track information requests from lenders and internal teams.
- Support preparation for lender meetings and management presentations.
- Coordinate with internal execution, credit, legal, and research teams as required.
- Maintain organized records of transaction-related documents and correspondence.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong interest in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Debt Markets, and Financial Advisory.
- Good understanding of basic accounting and financial statements.
- Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
- Positive command of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of financial modelling is preferred.

Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in:

- MBA / PGDM in Finance.
- CA / CMA / CFA / FRM or relevant professional qualification.
- Certification in Financial Modelling, Investment Banking, Credit Analysis, or Corporate Finance.

Role Objective
