BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION:

Finance Technology provides technology solutions and support to CIBCs Finance business, enabling effective governance, decision support, and operational excellence. The team delivers and maintains robust, scalable, and innovative applications that support financial, regulatory, and management reporting, as well as other critical finance functions across the organization.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Application Consultant is responsible for leading the planning, technical design, development, and integration of complex, enterprise-scale applications within the Finance Technology team. This role assembles, implements, and maintains flexible and personalized solutions that enhance the client experience, while ensuring alignment with CIBCs digital transformation strategy and business objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Design and Development:

- Perform and coordinate complex application programming activities to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
- Design technical infrastructure using appropriate databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing methodologies.
- Lead the design and development of cost-effective and innovative applications that meet business needs.

Strategic Planning:

- Develop multi-year technology roadmaps aligned with the banks vision, strategy, and business goals.
- Lead multiple complex projects involving backend systems, new technology adoption, and enhancement of existing applications.

Leadership:

- Act as the development team lead, running code-review sessions to ensure project milestones and goals are met.
- Support and mentor intermediate and senior developers by sharing knowledge, collaborating, and facilitating problem-solving.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

- Collaborates with business stakeholders, project managers, and other technology teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Engages with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure integrated and compliant application delivery.




- Partners with external vendors and technology partners as required to support project implementation and ongoing system enhancements.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

- Leads the technical delivery of multiple, concurrent enterprise-scale projects within Finance Technology.
- Provides advisory and support services to project teams and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Provide operational support for overnight batch processes by monitoring and taking the required actions to resolve any incidents

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related technical discipline.

Must have skills:

- 7+ yrs of experience
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with Databricks
- Familiarity with Azure Data Factory
- Hands-on experience with Batch Job Scheduler/Autosys
- Proficiency with SFTP file transfer tools (Feedhub or similar)
- Advanced application development and technical leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
- Client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a hybrid work workplace.

- Functional experience with SAP
- Experience with Informatica
- Exposure to cloud technologies
- Familiarity with API development and integration
- Proficiency with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-enabled development tools
- Strong understanding of Object Oriented Design and structured Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.
