Role Summary - IOT head

Key Responsibilities

A) Technology Strategy & Architecture Ownership

- Define and govern end-to-end IoT reference architectures (edge devices → connectivity → gateway → cloud → analytics/AI → enterprise integration).
- Standardize technology stack and “golden patterns” across all customer projects to maximize reusability and margins.
- Drive adoption of current and emerging trends: Edge AI (TinyML, LLM-on-edge), Private 5G/RedCap, Matter/Thread, Digital Twins (AWS TwinMaker, Azure Digital Twins, NVIDIA Omniverse), TSN, WI-SUN, Zero-Trust IoT, IEC 62443-4-2 SL3/4.
- Act as the final technical approver for all high-complexity designs and risk decisions.

B) End-to-End Delivery Leadership (External Projects)

- Full ownership of technical delivery for a portfolio of 4–8 concurrent customer projects ($1M–$25M each).
- Partner with Project/Program Managers on scope, estimation, risk management, and margin protection (target gross margin 45–60%).
- Establish and enforce IoTOps practices: CI/CD for firmware & cloud, fleet OTA rollout strategies, monitoring, alerting, rollback, and disaster recovery.
- Lead critical incident resolution and customer escalations.

C) Pre-Sales & Customer Facing Technical Leadership

- Serve as the senior-most technical authority in customer workshops, RFI/RFP responses, and executive briefings.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into scoped, priced, and risk-mitigated technical solutions.
- Co-own win themes and technical differentiation with Sales; lead PoCs, pilots, and solution demos.

D) Practice Building & People Leadership

- Rapidly build and scale a parallel IoT delivery organization (embedded, edge, cloud, DevOps, data engineers, solution architects,



QA).
- Hire, mentor, and retain top talent; create career paths and Centers of Excellence (Edge AI, OT Security, Digital Twin, 5G Integration).
- Build reusable accelerators, frameworks, IP, and open-source contributions to strengthen brand and reduce delivery effort.

Required Experience & Skills :

- 12–14 years total experience with minimum 7+ years in customer-facing IoT/AIoT solution design and delivery leadership.
- Proven track record of building and leading IoT practices/delivery units in system integrators (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, HCL), specialist firms (PTC, Software AG, C3.ai, Bosch.IO), or digital engineering companies.
- Delivered large-scale external IoT engagements end-to-end (Industry 4.0, smart cities, energy, logistics, healthcare, retail).

Technical Depth (hands-on in the past, architecture-level now) :

- Edge & Firmware: RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr), Linux gateways (Yocto, Ubuntu Core), secure boot, OTA, containerized edge (Balena, K3s).
- Connectivity & Protocols: MQTT, OPC-UA, Modbus, Profinet, BLE, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Private 5G.
- Cloud IoT Platforms: AWS IoT Core/Greengrass, Azure IoT Hub/Edge, GCP IoT (architect-level).
- Security: PKI, device identity, zero-trust, IEC 62443, OWASP IoT Top 10.
- Data & AI: Time-series (InfluxDB, Timescale), streaming (Kafka, IoT Hub), Edge AI (TensorFlow Lite, ONNX), predictive maintenance pipelines.
- DevOps/IoTOps: Terraform, CI/CD for firmware+cloud, observability (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).

Qualifications :

- BE/BTech/MTech in CS, Electronics, or related field (ME/MTech/PhD preferred).
- Relevant certifications (any) : AWS/Azure Solutions Architect Qualified, CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert.
