Role & responsibilities
Be present on site daily supervise all trade contractors and ensure work is proceeding as per drawings, specifications, and daily programme.
- Prepare and submit Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) every day covering work completed, pending items, material status, manpower deployed, and issues on site.
- Monitor and enforce workmanship quality on site check each trade against the quality checklist and raise issues immediately to the PM.
Track material delivery against the procurement schedule — flag shortfalls early, coordinate with the procurement team, and ensure nothing stops the site due to material gaps.
Coordinate between civil, MEP, interior finishing, and furniture trade contractors on a daily basis to prevent clashes and idle time.
- Maintain the site instruction register — log all verbal and written instructions from clients, consultants, or the PM and ensure they are actioned.
- Conduct daily labour headcount; verify that adequate skilled manpower is deployed per trade; escalate shortages immediately.
- Assist the PM in managing the snag list — log defects, assign to the relevant trade, and track closure before handover.
- Maintain site safety standards — ensure PPE compliance, housekeeping, and safe work practices are followed by all contractors daily.
Assist the PM with site documentation — drawing logs, material approval records, inspection reports, and daily labour records.
WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE HARD:
- You are on site every day, managing 8–12 trade teams who each have their own priorities, and your only authority is your knowledge and persistence.
- Every problem that happens on site — quality defect, material delay, contractor conflict — lands on you first, before the PM even knows.
Keeping the site moving forward every day requires following up on the same things repeatedly, with contractors who will do the minimum unless pushed.
- Writing an accurate, structured DPR every single day after 9 hours on site demands discipline that most people underestimate. DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- 2–6 years in site supervision or assistant project management for commercial interior fit-out or construction projects.
- Ability to read architectural and interior drawings; basic understanding of MEP works.
- Robust on-ground contractor management skills — firm, persistent, and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in DPR preparation, site documentation, and basic Excel.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Interior Design.
