About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Paravet – OT In-Charge to take ownership of the day-to-day functioning of the veterinary Operation Theatre and provide hands-on surgical assistance during ABC (Animal Birth Control) and other veterinary surgical procedures.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical experience with Small Animals, Dogs & Cats, along with significant hands-on OT/Surgical experience.
Experience Required
? 5+ years of hands-on Small Animal experience – Mandatory
? 5+ years of hands-on OT/Surgical experience – Mandatory
? Strong experience working with Dogs & Cats
? Experience in veterinary OT / surgery assistance / ABC procedures
? Experience in supervising or coordinating OT staff will be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the overall day-to-day functioning of the Operation Theatre.
- Prepare the OT, surgical instruments, equipment and consumables before procedures.
- Assist Veterinary Surgeons during ABC and other surgical procedures.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of surgical instruments and OT areas.
- Assist with safe handling, preparation and positioning of animals before surgery.
- Support the veterinary team during surgical procedures and post-operative care.
- Monitor animals after surgery and immediately report abnormalities to the Veterinary Surgeon.
- Maintain OT hygiene and infection-control standards.
- Manage stock of surgical instruments, medicines and consumables.
- Maintain surgery, sterilization, inventory and other OT records.
- Coordinate with Veterinary Surgeons, Paravets, animal handlers and support staff.
- Supervise and guide junior OT staff/Paravets.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare, safety and hospital SOPs.
Candidate Profile
- Diploma/Certificate in Veterinary Paraveterinary, Animal Husbandry or Veterinary Assistant course.
- 5+ years of relevant Small Animal experience.
- 5+ years of practical OT/Surgical experience.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization and animal handling.
- Hands-on experience with Dogs & Cats.
- Strong coordination and team-management skills.
- Ability to take ownership of OT operations in a fast-paced veterinary setting.
Compensation Salary will be decided based on the candidate's experience, technical skills, last drawn salary and interview performance.
