Outcome School

India

Company Description Outcome School is a free technology school offering structured, level-based programs in software engineering, AI, product, robotics, game development, and cybersecurity. Its prerequisite-based pathways are designed to help underserved and minority learners build skills step by step, with each level running for 12 weeks. The organization focuses on bridging the gap between education and employment by emphasizing outcome-based learning aligned with industry needs.

Outcome

School partners with employers to create real hiring pathways, aiming to deliver job-ready technical and qualified skills, measurable employment outcomes, and long-term economic mobility for participants. Learners gain training, mentorship, projects, and workforce readiness rather than education for its own sake.

Role Description This is a remote, volunteer role for a User Experience Design Specialist. The specialist will collaborate with program leaders and educators to design intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital learning experiences for underserved learners. Day-to-day tasks may include applying design thinking to learning workflows, creating or refining user flows and interfaces, and developing prototypes for web or mobile products that support the school’s programs.

The role involves conducting user research with learners and mentors, synthesizing insights, and iterating on designs to improve usability and learner outcomes. The specialist will also contribute to visual design standards, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure a consistent and learner-centered experience.

Qualifications

- Strong user-centered design skills, including User Experience Design (UED) and Design Thinking.
- Ability to conduct and synthesize User Research to inform design decisions and improve learner journeys.
- Proficiency in Visual Design and Prototyping using up-to-date design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
- Understanding of inclusive and accessible design principles, particularly for diverse and underserved populations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with remote, cross-functional teams.
- Experience or interest in education, workforce development, or learning experience design is highly beneficial.
- Ability to commit consistent volunteer time and work independently in a remote environment.
- Relevant academic background or equivalent practical experience in UX, UI, product design, HCI, or related fields is a plus.
