Role Description

Department

Legal Services, including the Information Governance and Insurance Office, sits within the University Secretary's Office and forms part of Professional Services at the University of York. We are a small, friendly and supportive team comprising five lawyers and a Legal Services Co-ordinator.

Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative legal team supporting a leading UK university. The role offers exposure to a diverse range of legal matters arising from teaching, research, innovation and international collaboration, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your legal expertise within the Higher Education sector. We welcome applications from candidates who may not have previous Higher Education experience but are keen to learn and develop in a varied in-house legal workplace

Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed

Experience of the HE sector is not required.

We are seeking a lawyer with excellent research and legal drafting skills and some experience of contract law. The role will primarily deal with contracts and commercial agreements including NDAs, student placements, MOUs, licensing, intellectual property and assisting other lawyers on international partnerships. We are looking for someone enthusiastic about learning and prepared to contribute to the team and the University.

Interview date: Late September / early October (to be confirmed)

For informal enquiries: please contact Debbie Wilkinson at [email protected] The University strives to be diverse and inclusive – a place where we can ALL be ourselves.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. #EqualityatYork
