1. Position Title

Trainer – Business Development & Entrepreneurship (BD&E;)

2. About D-CoE The Centre of Excellence in Design (D-CoE), established at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, focuses on strengthening capabilities in design, innovation, product development, prototyping, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies.

D-CoE conducts structured training programmes for students, startups, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders, with an emphasis on hands-on learning, multidisciplinary problem-solving, innovation, and industry relevance.

3. Position Overview

D-CoE is looking for a dynamic and industry-oriented Trainer – Business Development & Entrepreneurship (BD&E;) to design and deliver training programmes that develop entrepreneurial and business capabilities among students, innovators, and startup teams.

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering practical, application-oriented training covering entrepreneurship, business development, product strategy, market validation, business models, financial fundamentals, commercialization, and startup growth.

The role will also involve mentoring student and startup teams, developing training content, facilitating workshops, evaluating business ideas, and engaging with industry/startup ecosystems.

4. Key Roles & Responsibilities

Design and deliver classroom, workshop, and hands-on training sessions on Business Development and Entrepreneurship, and any other module assigned.

Develop course content,



presentations, case studies, assignments, exercises, and assessment methodologies.

Maintain training records, reports and programme documentation, and collect participant feedback to continuously improve the programme.

The candidate should demonstrate strong capability in: Entrepreneurship, business development, product strategy, market research, business model design, go-to-market planning, financial fundamentals, startup mentoring, training and facilitation, communication, stakeholder management, and analytical problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and facilitation abilities to delivery and mentor multidisciplinary teams.

Any other work assigned by the CEO/Faculty/Department

5. Educational Qualification

Essential:

- Master’s degree in management or business administration or engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/design with 2 years’ experience

Desirable:

- MBA/PGDM with specialization in Entrepreneurship, Business Development, Marketing, Strategy or related areas.

· Experience working with startups, incubators, accelerators or innovation centres. · Experience in mentoring early-stage startups, and working with engineering, technology or deep-tech startups will be an advantage.

· Experience in delivering entrepreneurship or business-development programmes.

· Experience in developing and evaluating business plans/business models.

· Candidates with robust entrepreneurial/startup, industry or business-development experience are desirable.
