Position : Tool Room Machinist

Experience : 5-8 Years

Educational Qualification: ITI – Tool & Die Maker / Machinist / Fitter or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Tool & Die Making

Summary:

Lee Spring Company is looking for an experienced Tool Room Machinist to join our NPD & Tooling team. The candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, modification, fitting, assembly, and maintenance of precision tooling and fixtures used in spring manufacturing and New Product Development.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in making manual wire bending tools, particularly Bottom Bending and Top Bending tools, and should be capable of understanding engineering drawings and independently carrying out machining and fitting operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tool Manufacturing

- Manufacture manual wire bending tools for spring and wire-forming applications.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Bottom Bending Tools
- Top Bending Tools
- Wire forming/bending punches and dies
- Cut-off tools
- Forming tools
- Mandrels, pins and inserts
- Gauges and checking fixtures
- Assembly and inspection fixtures
- Manufacture tooling as per engineering drawings and specified dimensions/tolerances.
- Perform tool modification and correction based on NPD trials and feedback.

2. Machining Operations Candidate should have strong practical experience in conventional machining operations, including:

- Surface Grinding
- Conventional Lathe
- Rough Milling
- Bench Grinding
- Drilling and tapping
- Manual fitting and filing
- Tool polishing and finishing




- Deburring and edge preparation

The candidate should be comfortable selecting appropriate machining methods and sequence based on the tooling requirement. 3. Tool Fitting & Assembly

- Assemble punches, dies, inserts, guide components and other tooling elements.
- Perform precision fitting and hand finishing.
- Check clearances, alignment and movement of assembled tools.
- Carry out spotting, fitting and correction of tools during trials.
- Identify and rectify tool-related problems such as:
- Improper clearance
- Misalignment
- Interference
- Burr formation
- Wire scratching
- Inconsistent forming
- Tool wear

4. NPD Tool Development Work closely with the NPD & Tooling Team during development of current spring and wire-forming products.

- Manufacture prototype tooling for new parts.
- Modify tooling based on trial results.
- Support first-off and development trials.
- Make quick tool corrections during NPD activities.
- Support development of tools for compression springs, extension springs, torsion springs, wire forms, flat springs and other special spring components.

5. Tool Maintenance

- Maintain and repair existing production tooling.
- Carry out tool sharpening, regrinding and dimensional corrections.
- Maintain tooling in good working condition.
- Identify recurring tool failures and suggest improvements to increase tool life.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹650,000.00 per year
