Senior As Team Leader of the Screening team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Screening Service and Screening Officers (SOs). The team is responsible for managing screening clearance and compliance process for KPMG’s incoming student candidates, employee and contractor population. Working closely with other Workforce Operations teams, you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, including Security Controllers, Engagement Leaders, Performance Leads, Risk, and Account Managers.
A key aspect of the role is ensuring the delivery of an exceptional service while meeting demanding timescales and client requirements. Detailed roles &
responsibilities include: Team Leadership and Service Delivery • Work closely with fellow Team Leaders to ensure a consistently high standard of service is delivered in line with our service pledge.
- Act as the first point of escalation for the team, providing guidance and support on complex queries.
- Manage complaints and escalations in a timely and professional manner, identifying effective solutions for clients while recognising opportunities for process improvement. Performance and Service Management • Monitor, analyse, and report on team performance against agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Quality Assurance framework.
- Support individuals and the wider team in achieving performance targets through regular one-to-one meetings, team briefings, and ongoing communication.
- Ensure service delivery remains aligned with business objectives and client expectations.
- Conduct regular Quality Assurance checks to identify strengths, development areas, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Risk Management and Compliance • Take a balanced and commercially focused approach to risk assessment, working closely with Compliance teams and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with firm policies, regulatory requirements, and GDPR obligations.
- Take personal responsibility for maintaining the highest standards of compliance and data protection.
Resource
Planning and Operational Management • Oversee the day-to-day management of the team, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to meet client demand and maintain service excellence.
- Manage workforce activities including recruitment, annual leave approvals, and workload distribution.
- Balance business-as-usual delivery with the need to support ad hoc projects, meetings, and wider business initiatives.
Subject Matter
Expertise and Capability Development • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in screening processes, including BPSS requirements.
- Provide expert guidance and support to the team, ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Design and deliver training programmes that support both technical and professional development.
- Deliver tailored coaching and one-to-one training while ensuring colleagues receive appropriate learning opportunities for their grade and role.
Continuous
Improvement and Stakeholder Management • Demonstrate accountability and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing solutions that improve operational efficiency and client service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
- Work in partnership with the Service Lead and extended leadership team to identify opportunities for improvement, driving efficiencies and the implementation of new processes, including automation initiatives.
- Handle challenging conversations with confidence and professionalism.
Leadership Support
Deputise for the Service Lead as required,
ensuring continuity of leadership and service delivery during periods of absence.
Skills required The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and experience: Screening Knowledge and Expertise Robust awareness and understanding of UK screening frameworks, including Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) requirements.
Experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within projects, providing specialist guidance and support. Leadership and Team Development Proven experience leading teams within a shared services or operational environment. A track record of coaching, developing, and motivating colleagues to achieve high performance and deliver exceptional service.
The ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence. Communication and Stakeholder Management Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
The ability to influence, challenge constructively, and negotiate with confidence across a range of audiences. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills Strong analytical, reporting, and decision-making capabilities. Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to assess information accurately and identify potential risks or issues.

Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage workloads effectively under pressure. Technical Proficiency
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Experience using SAP or equivalent HR and workforce management systems.
Experience using ServiceNow – Case Management Experience Level Senior Level
