Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Safety & Environment professional to lead plant-level EHS operations, process safety, environmental management, and statutory compliance for our API manufacturing facilities. The role will be responsible for developing and implementing robust safety systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing environmental requirements, driving risk reduction initiatives, and building a strong safety culture across the organization.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in API / pharmaceutical / chemical manufacturing , with proven exposure to plant safety operations, process safety, environmental compliance, statutory requirements, audits, incident management, and emergency preparedness .

Key Responsibilities
- Lead plant-wide Safety & Workplace operations and ensure safe and compliant manufacturing practices.
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, systems, and safety standards across the plant.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act, Environment Acts, statutory requirements, permits, and regulatory guidelines .
- Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP, safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Lead incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA, and preventive actions .
- Monitor and ensure compliance related to fire safety, chemical handling, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, and disaster management .
- Oversee environmental compliance covering ETP/STP, emissions, hazardous waste, solid waste, water, air pollution, and environmental monitoring .
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities and support statutory inspections, customer audits, and regulatory audits .
- Develop and conduct EHS training, safety induction,
awareness programs, mock drills, and emergency response training .
- Monitor EHS performance through KPIs, dashboards, compliance trackers, and management review reports .
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Projects, QA, QC, and Administration to identify and control operational risks.
- Drive Safety & Environment improvement initiatives, cost optimization, sustainability, and reduction of incidents and environmental impact .
- Ensure contractor safety management, permit-to-work systems, PPE compliance, and safe work practices.
- Lead and mentor the Safety & Environment team and build a strong safety culture across the organization.
Required Skills
- Strong experience in API / Pharmaceutical / Chemical manufacturing environments .
- Sound knowledge of Process Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, and statutory compliance .
- Hands-on experience in HAZOP, Risk Assessment, MOC, Incident Investigation, Emergency Management, and Fire Safety .
- Good knowledge of EHS audits, regulatory inspections, environmental compliance, and statutory approvals .
- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple plant-level EHS priorities and lead cross-functional teams.
Qualification B.E./B.Tech Chemical / Mechanical / Environmental Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Additional NEBOSH / IOSH / Safety / Environmental certifications will be preferred.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Candidates currently working at Senior Manager / AGM / DGM / GM EHS/Safety & Environment level in API, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, or similar process industries , with strong exposure to plant operations and regulatory compliance .
