ROLE: Operations Manager – Shop Floor Production

Location: Beco More, Gamharia, Jharkhand

Industry: Automotive Bodybuilding / Heavy Sheet-Metal Fabrication

Experience: 7–8 years of relevant experience in shop-floor operations, preferably in heavy sheet-metal fabrication or automotive bodybuilding (truck/ bulker/ tipper)

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to take ownership of the complete shop-floor production operations at our manufacturing facility in Gamharia.

The ideal candidate will have robust experience in heavy sheet-metal fabrication, automotive bodybuilding, production management, manpower handling, productivity improvement, quality control, and shop-floor discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production & Shop-Floor Management

- Take complete ownership of day-to-day shop-floor production operations.
- Plan, organize, and monitor production activities to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
- Ensure smooth workflow across fabrication, assembly, welding, fitting, and related production processes.
- Monitor production output, productivity, downtime, rejection, rework, and overall equipment/manpower utilization.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve throughput.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and customer delivery commitments.

2. Manpower Management

- Lead and manage shop-floor supervisors, operators, welders, fabricators, fitters, helpers, and other production personnel.
- Plan manpower deployment according to production requirements and workload.
- Monitor workforce productivity, attendance, discipline, and performance.
- Develop supervisors and operators through training, coaching, and on-the-job guidance.
- Maintain a disciplined, accountable, and performance-oriented shop-floor culture.

Sheet-Metal Fabrication & Automotive Bodybuilding

- Manage fabrication operations involving heavy sheet-metal components and automotive body structures.
- Ensure proper execution of cutting, bending, welding, grinding, fitting, assembly, and finishing activities.
- Ensure production is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, process standards, and quality requirements.
- Work closely with engineering/design teams to resolve production-related technical issues.
- Drive improvements in fabrication methods, cycle time, material utilization, and process efficiency.

4. Quality Management

- Ensure production meets defined quality standards and customer specifications.
- Minimize rejection, rework, weld defects, dimensional deviations, and workmanship issues.
- Coordinate with the Quality team to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Establish and maintain process discipline and standard operating practices on the shop floor.

5. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict adherence to workplace safety procedures and safe operating practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the shop floor.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with welding, fabrication, material-handling, and machinery safety requirements.
- Identify potential shop-floor hazards and ensure timely corrective action.

6. Productivity & Cost Improvement





- Monitor key production KPIs and continuously improve shop-floor productivity.
- Reduce material wastage, machine downtime, idle manpower, rework, and operational losses.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Implement Lean/5S/continuous-improvement practices wherever applicable.

7. Coordination & Reporting

- Coordinate closely with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Purchase, Engineering, and Dispatch teams.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials, tools, consumables, manpower, and equipment required for production.
- Conduct regular production reviews and communicate status, issues, and action plans to management.
- Prepare and maintain production-related MIS and performance reports.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

- 7–8 years of experience in shop-floor production/operations.
- Strong experience in heavy sheet-metal fabrication and/or automotive bodybuilding.
- Proven experience managing production teams and shop-floor manpower.
- Practical knowledge of welding, fabrication, fitting, assembly, and related manufacturing processes.
- Experience in meeting production targets and managing delivery schedules.
- Strong understanding of production quality and safety practices.

Preferred Skills

- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of production planning and control.
- Familiarity with 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement.
- Good understanding of fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
