About the RoleWe are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer I to join our engineering team in Bengaluru. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java, Node.js, backend API development, API design, and relational databases.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable backend services, improving API ecosystems, solving complex technical challenges, and contributing to software architecture and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance scalable backend APIs and services.
- Build and improve API ecosystems supporting experimentation and product platforms.
- Apply sound software architecture, design patterns, and coding best practices.
- Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and system scalability challenges.
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Develop and optimize applications using Java and Node.js.
- Work with MySQL or other relational databases to design efficient data models and queries.
- Drive code quality through refactoring, reviews, testing, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.




- Drive initiatives focused on productivity, performance, reliability, and overall software quality.
- Work effectively with global and cross-functional teams across different time zones.

Required Skills & Experience
- 7–11 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Java development.
- Strong experience with Node.js.
- Proven experience developing backend APIs and services.
- Strong understanding of API design, development, integration, and management.
- Strong experience with MySQL or other relational databases.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering best practices.
- Experience with object-oriented programming, design patterns, refactoring, and clean code principles.
- Solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.

Good to Have
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Python, Perl, or JavaScript.
- Experience with domain-driven/domain-based system design.
- Exposure to API documentation, governance, and lifecycle management.
- Understanding of statistics, experimentation, or A/B testing.
- Experience working with global, distributed, or cross-time-zone engineering teams.
- Experience mentoring or technically guiding junior engineers.
