We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Software Engineer –

- Backend &
- Distributed Systems to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling highly available backend systems that power products used by 820+ million monthly active users worldwide.

You will take ownership of critical data infrastructure, optimize distributed database systems, and build scalable backend services capable of handling 100,000+ requests per second. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex engineering challenges, work on large-scale distributed systems, and mentor fellow engineers while driving technical excellence across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Engineering &

- System Design

- Design, develop, and deliver high-performance backend services and product features at massive scale.
- Build and maintain systems capable of handling high traffic volumes with low latency and high reliability.
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant, and resilient distributed architectures.
- Take end-to-end ownership of business-critical services and data management systems.

Distributed Databases &

- Infrastructure

- Design, optimize, and maintain distributed database environments to ensure:
- High availability
- Scalability
- Reliability
- Performance

- Work extensively with distributed SQL databases, preferably YugabyteDB, in production environments.




- Identify inefficiencies in database usage patterns and implement improvements across products and services.
- Collaborate closely with Infrastructure and Platform teams to stabilize and scale database clusters.

Performance &

- Reliability

- Conduct system performance benchmarking and capacity planning.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and failure detection mechanisms.
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause analysis.
- Optimize backend services for throughput, latency, and resource utilization.

Technical Leadership

- Lead architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure engineering quality and best practices.
- Drive adoption of software development standards and engineering excellence.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Product, QA, and Infrastructure teams.

Mentorship &

- Team Development

- Mentor and coach engineers on system design, coding practices, and career development.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and technical interview processes.
- Foster a collaborative and learning-focused engineering culture.

Required Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience





- 6+ years of experience in medium-to-large-scale backend software development.
- Proven experience building and operating distributed systems in production environments.
- Strong experience designing and architecting scalable backend applications and services.

Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Clojure.
- Hands-on experience with distributed databases, preferably YugabyteDB.
