ABOUT THE COMPANY

Big Bang Boom Solutions (BBBS) is a Chennai-based deep-tech defence startup focused on developing indigenous defence and security technologies. It operates as a defence solutions integrator that builds advanced systems in areas such as artificial intelligence, UAS/drone technology, electronic warfare, material science, propulsion, communication systems, and data security, aiming to create intellectual property for national defence applications.

BBBS develops products such as anti-drone defence systems, see-through armour interfaces, smart surveillance platforms, and other custom defence technologies. The company has participated in and won multiple iDEX challenges sponsored by the Indian Ministry of Defence, receiving government grants and contracts.

Role Overview

This is a founding hire for the PMO at Big Bang Boom Solutions.

As Senior Project

Manager – Joint Venture Programs, you will own end-to-end delivery of the company's JV-driven development projects — spanning hardware systems, software and embedded systems, aerospace platforms, defence electronics, and materials science. You will be the primary interface between Big Bang Boom Solutions and its JV partners (both domestic and international), ensuring that development milestones are met, technical and programmatic risks are surfaced early, and issues are resolved decisively. This is not a coordination-only role. It calls for a technical leader with robust program management instincts who can operate credibly with engineering teams, programme boards, and senior stakeholders — internally and across partner organisations. The ideal candidate is someone who takes complete ownership of the programs they run.

Key Responsibilities

Program Ownership & End-to-End Delivery • Own the full lifecycle of JV-driven development projects from initiation through delivery, covering hardware, software, systems, and materials science domains.

- Define, maintain, and enforce program baselines — scope, schedule, cost, and quality — in alignment with JV agreements and company objectives.
- Drive delivery accountability across internal teams and JV partner teams, ensuring milestones are met as per agreed timelines.




- Serve as the single accountable owner for all aspects of the JV development program on behalf of Big Bang Boom Solutions.

Joint Venture Coordination & Partner Management

- Act as the primary liaison between Big Bang Boom Solutions and its JV partners (both domestic and international), maintaining strong working relationships at technical and management levels. • Coordinate joint planning sessions, integrated program reviews, and milestone reviews with partner organisations. • Manage formal communications between both organisations — including action logs, status reports, meeting minutes, and decisions registers. • Undertake planned and unplanned site visits to JV partner locations — domestically and internationally — to maintain hands-on engagement with development activities. • Navigate cross-cultural and cross-jurisdictional complexities inherent to domestic and international JV programs.

Tracking, Monitoring & Reporting
- Establish and maintain robust program tracking mechanisms including integrated master schedules (IMS), risk registers, issue logs, and action trackers. • Monitor technical progress against agreed development plans; identify deviations early and drive corrective actions. • Provide timely, accurate, and concise reporting to internal leadership, including executive-level dashboards and program health summaries. • Track dependencies, inter-organisational commitments, and critical path activities across both organisations.

Risk, Issue Management & Escalation
- Proactively identify technical, programmatic, contractual, and operational risks across the JV program. • Develop and maintain risk mitigation plans; monitor risk exposure and trigger escalation paths when thresholds are breached.



• Escalate critical issues to appropriate stakeholders in a structured and timely manner — both internally and with JV partner leadership. • Drive resolution of cross-organisational blockers, disagreements, and technical disputes with a solutions-first approach.

PMO Setup & Process Development
- As the founding PMO team member, contribute to the design and institutionalisation of PMO processes, templates, and governance frameworks. • Define best practices for JV program management at Big Bang Boom Solutions and ensure these are adopted across current and future programs. • Support the evolution of the PMO as the organisation scales — including onboarding additional projects and team members over time.

Experience

- 8–12 years of progressive experience in program or project management, with a significant portion in defence, aerospace, or complex systems development. • Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary development programs involving hardware, software, and systems integration. • Direct experience working on or managing Joint Venture, partnership-driven, or multi-organisation programs — either with domestic or international partners. • Experience operating in or alongside defence sector organisations — including familiarity with DPP/DAP frameworks, ToT programs, or international defence cooperation is advantageous. • Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs with technically sophisticated deliverables across geographically distributed teams.

Technical Competencies

- Solid technical foundation in Engineering or Technology — sufficient to hold meaningful, substantive conversations with design and development engineers. • Understanding of hardware development cycles, embedded systems, and aerospace platform development. • Familiarity with systems engineering principles (requirements management, interface management, V-model, etc.). • Proficiency with program management tools — MS Project, JIRA, or equivalent — and reporting frameworks. • Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, specifications, and test plans.
