Role Summary
Leads engineering workstreams or smaller projects while developing broader project-management, review, and team-leadership accountability. The role applies this accountability within Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Key Responsibilities
- Plan assigned packages or smaller projects, define deliverables, allocate tasks, and monitor progress against milestones.
- Review work produced by engineers and drafters for technical completeness, coordination, and compliance with project criteria.
- Lead routine multidisciplinary coordination and internal technical discussions; support client meetings and action closure.
- Apply QRM requirements, confirm review records, and escalate scope, schedule, resource, commercial, and technical risks.
- Mentor team members, provide actionable feedback, and contribute to standards, training, and automation improvements.
Role-Specific Discipline Scope
- BESS layouts, battery-container configuration, PCS and MV transformer integration, auxiliary systems, and single-line diagrams.
- DC, LVAC, and MVAC cable systems, sizing, ampacity, voltage drop, routing, grounding, schedules, and BOMs.
- OEM drawing/data review and interfaces with EMS, communications, fire alarm, HVAC, and third-party packages.
- Clearances, augmentation strategy, constructability, and applicable NEC, NFPA 855, utility, and AHJ requirements.
- Coordination with Civil,
Structural, PV, PSS, substation/HV, and T-Line teams and validation of vendor/automation outputs.
Qualifications and Experience Guidance Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or another directly relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.
Experience: Typically 8-12 years of relevant experience, including technical review and coordination of teams or smaller projects.
Knowledge: Applicable codes, client/utility requirements, constructability, quality controls, and multidisciplinary interfaces at a depth appropriate to the level.
Technical Skills / Software
Core tools: AutoCAD; Microsoft Excel; ETAP or comparable electrical-analysis tools where assigned; OEM sizing/configuration tools; document-management and approved calculation tools.
Expected proficiency: Robust review proficiency and ability to select appropriate methods, govern inputs, and challenge results across project packages.
Reporting / Accountability
Reporting: Typically reports to a Deputy Manager or Manager and may serve as a workstream or project Engineering Lead.
Accountability: Accountable for assigned workstream scope, technical quality, task allocation, milestone performance, review closure, and early escalation of risks.
