Rajalakshmi Group and its associated entities are looking for an accomplished and commercially minded legal professional to join the organisation as Senior Manager – Legal & Corporate Affairs.
This is an in-house legal role for someone who enjoys being close to business and institutional decision-making. We are looking for a lawyer who can understand the commercial intent behind a transaction, identify and manage legal risks, and work with management and external counsel to take matters through to closure.
The role will work across a diverse group of activities spanning education, infrastructure, real estate, technology ventures, research collaborations, commercial contracts and new projects.
The Role The Senior Manager – Legal & Corporate Affairs will act as an important internal legal resource for the organisation and will:
- Review, negotiate and help structure commercial agreements, MoUs, leases, vendor and service contracts, technology agreements, partnerships and institutional collaborations.
- Support corporate transactions, investments, new ventures, property transactions and major infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate with and manage the organisation’s external lawyers, law firms, consultants and specialists, ensuring matters are followed through effectively.
- Work with senior management on corporate law, contractual, regulatory and governance matters.
- Support legal due diligence and documentation for acquisitions, investments, financing and strategic projects.
- Oversee litigation and disputes from the organisation’s side, while working with specialist external advocates where court representation is required.
- Develop stronger internal systems for contracts, documentation, compliance, legal records and risk management.
- Provide practical legal advice that balances legal protection with commercial realities and speed of execution.
The Candidate We would particularly like to meet candidates who:
- Hold an LL.B./B.A. LL.B. or equivalent qualification, preferably from a leading law school or university.
- Have approximately 6–12 years of relevant experience, with some flexibility for exceptional candidates.
- Have strong exposure to corporate law, commercial contracts, transactions, real estate, infrastructure or general corporate advisory.
- May currently be working with a leading law firm, corporate legal department, financial institution, infrastructure company or other professionally managed organisation.
- Are interested in building a long-term career as an in-house corporate legal professional rather than pursuing a predominantly courtroom-based practice.
- Can independently understand agreements, negotiate positions and coordinate complex matters involving multiple stakeholders.
- Possess strong written communication, commercial judgement and attention to detail.
What Makes the Opportunity Engaging This is not intended to be a narrowly defined legal-compliance position.
REC and its associated entities are entering a significant phase of growth involving new educational initiatives, large infrastructure and real-estate developments, technology ventures, research and industry partnerships, and new corporate structures.
The person joining us will therefore have the opportunity to work directly with leadership on a wide variety of transactions and gradually develop into a key legal and corporate affairs resource for the group.
We are looking for someone who combines the discipline of a good lawyer with the mindset of a business professional — someone who enjoys making transactions happen while protecting the organisation’s long-term interests.
