Key Roles & Responsibilities - Senior Graphic Designer

- Develop creative and commercially suitable artwork for sheet metal printing and other packaging materials.
- Create new packaging concepts based on customer requirements and brand guidelines.
- Adapt existing artwork for different product sizes, SKUs, languages, and pack formats.
- Maintain consistency of fonts, logos, graphics, images, and brand elements.
- Create artwork according to approved packaging dielines and structural specifications.

1. Sheet-Fed Offset Printing – Technical Knowledge

- Strong practical knowledge of sheet-fed offset printing processes.
- Understand printing sequence, plate requirements, paper/substrate selection, ink coverage, registration, and printability.
- Prepare artwork according to the requirements of the offset printing machine and production process.
- Understand CMYK process colours and Pantone/spot colours.
- Check colour separations and ensure correct colour plates are generated.
- Understand trapping, overprinting, knockouts, screening, dot gain, registration, and ink coverage.
- Coordinate with the press operator and production team to resolve artwork-related printing issues.
- Support colour matching and approval during machine trials/press checks.

1. Prepress & Artwork Preparation

- Prepare print-ready PDF/AI/CDR/INDD files for production.
- Conduct detailed preflight checks before releasing artwork.
- Verify:
- Dimensions
- Bleed
- Crop marks
- Fonts
- Image resolution
- CMYK/RGB conversion
- Pantone colours
- Overprint settings
- Trapping
- Barcode
- QR code
- Text accuracy
- Dieline and cutting marks
- Ensure artwork is technically suitable for offset printing.
- Identify and correct prepress issues before sending files to production.
- Maintain proper artwork version control and approved master files.

1. Packaging Dieline & Structural Artwork

- Work confidently with packaging dielines, keylines, cutting, creasing, folding, and gluing areas.
- Place artwork accurately within dielines.
- Ensure important text, logos, barcodes, and graphics maintain required safety margins.
- Check artwork compatibility with die-cutting and folding requirements.
- Coordinate with structural/package development teams for artwork adjustments.

1. Printing & Production Coordination

- Coordinate with Prepress, Production, Offset Printing, Die-Cutting, Folding, Pasting, Lamination, UV, Foiling,



and other finishing.
- Attend press approvals and provide technical support related to artwork.
- Investigate printing problems caused by artwork, colour separation, trapping, overprint, or file setup.
- Coordinate corrections quickly to avoid production delays and material wastage.
- Review printed samples against approved artwork.

1. Colour Management

- Strong understanding of CMYK, Pantone, spot colours, colour separation, and colour correction.
- Ensure consistency of brand colours across different packaging jobs.
- Understand the impact of paper/substrate and finishing processes on colour.
- Perform colour correction and image adjustment for print production.
- Support shade matching during proofing and press production.
- Maintain approved colour references and artwork standards.

1. Print Finishing Knowledge

Working knowledge of packaging finishing processes such as:
- Lamination
- Aqueous coating
- UV coating
- Spot UV
- Embossing
- Debossing
- Hot foil stamping
- Cold foil
- Die cutting
- Creasing
- Folding
- Pasting
- Window patching

Ensure artwork is correctly prepared for applicable finishing processes.
1. Software Skills

Mandatory:

- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe Acrobat / PDF Preflight

Good to have:

- CorelDRAW
- Esko / ArtPro
- Packaging CAD software
- Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Colour management/proofing software

Current packaging/prepress roles commonly require Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign/CorelDRAW along with print-ready artwork, dielines, prepress, and colour-management knowledge.
1. Quality Control

- Perform 100% artwork verification before production release.
- Ensure there are no spelling, text, image, barcode, colour, dimension, or technical errors.
- Compare final artwork with approved customer artwork.
- Maintain zero-error standards for production files.
- Support investigation of artwork-related customer complaints and printing defects.

1. Customer & Internal Coordination





- Understand customer artwork requirements and technical specifications.
- Communicate with customers regarding artwork corrections and approvals when required.
- Coordinate with Sales/Customer Service for artwork changes.
- Obtain necessary approvals before final production release.
- Maintain clear records of approved artwork and revisions.

1. Team Support & Leadership

- Guide and review the work of junior graphic designers and prepress operators.
- Allocate artwork jobs based on priority and production schedules.
- Train junior team members on packaging artwork and offset printing requirements.
- Establish standard artwork preparation and checking procedures.
- Help improve prepress workflow and reduce artwork-related production errors.
- Excellent knowledge of Sheet-Fed Offset Printing
- Strong packaging artwork preparation skills
- Solid prepress knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of dielines
- CMYK & Pantone colour management
- Trapping and overprint knowledge
- Print production troubleshooting
- Good typography and layout skills

Educational Qualification

Preferred:

- Diploma / Degree in Graphic Design
- Diploma / Degree in Printing Technology
- B.Des / BFA / Visual Communication
- Equivalent qualification with relevant packaging and printing experience

Preferred Candidate Profile A candidate with 5–10 years of hands-on experience in packaging artwork and sheet-fed offset printing, who can independently handle the complete workflow from customer artwork → packaging design → dieline → prepress → colour separation → proofing → offset printing → finishing → final quality approval. The ideal candidate should have both creative graphic-design capability and strong technical knowledge of offset packaging production

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
