Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Analyst with 6 to 7+ years of experience, specialising in Air Travel Distribution, NDC (New Distribution Capability), and GDS (Global Distribution Systems).
Job Responsibilities
Domain-Specific Responsibilities (NDC & GDS):
- Gather and document functional requirements for NDC API integrations and traditional GDS connections. (Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport).
- Analyse and design end-to-end business process flows for airline system.
- Identify functional gaps and define alternative approaches/migration strategies as business models shift from GDS architecture to NDC-driven airline system.
- Act as the primary focal point for global distribution partners, aggregators, corporate clients, and Online Booking Tools (OBTs) to align product capabilities with industry standards.
Core Systems Analysis & Project Execution
- Document high-quality functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in an Agile environment, developing a well-defined shared understanding of project scope and the final system vision.
- Define modifications to existing travel platforms to meet evolving user requirements.
- Retrieve, manipulate, and analyse complex transaction/booking data from relational data warehouses using SQL to identify systemic issues, optimise booking conversion, and make strategic recommendations to the product team.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for air-search logic, fare pricing, and ticketing workflows. Independently coordinate the investigation and resolution of complex production issues and system anomalies.
- Independently lead and manage smaller to medium-sized cross-functional projects, ensuring proper business justification and complete documentation for all initiatives.
Problem Solving And Stakeholder Management
- Acting as a trusted domain expert who seamlessly bridges communication between non-technical teams and technical IT infrastructure teams across global time zones.
- Proactively identifying booking failures, pricing discrepancies, or latency issues using SQL, and translating those findings into actionable system optimisations for the product team.
Integration And Transition
- Successfully defining and delivering NDC and GDS integrations with minimal post-deployment defects, ensuring robust handling of complex edge cases.
- Delivering comprehensive gap analyses that allow the engineering team to transition GDS workflows to NDC APIs smoothly without disrupting current booking volumes or revenue streams.
Requirement Efficiency
- Maintaining high-quality Agile backlogs where user stories, data mappings, and acceptance criteria are so clearly defined that development velocity increases and rework due to misaligned requirements is minimized.
Job Skills/Competencies/Experience
- 6 to 7+ years of professional experience working as a Business Analyst,
with a heavy focus on the Air Travel, Corporate Travel, or Travel Technology sectors.
- Hands-on experience with GDS platforms (Amadeus, Sabre, or Travelport) and NDC API integration projects is strictly required.
- Familiarity with Online Booking Tools (OBTs like Concur, Cytric, Deem) and corporate travel management workflows is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience working within Agile/Scrum development frameworks (Jira/Confluence proficiency).
- An analytical mind with a proven problem-solving aptitude for diagnosing complex XML/JSON payloads, fare calculations, or booking API failures.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to take initiative and champion cutting-edge ideas.
- Fluent and highly effective English communication skills (both written and verbal).
Qualifications
- 6 to 7+ years of skilled experience working as a Business Analyst.
- In-depth knowledge of airline distribution mechanics, including IATA standards, NDC schemas and GDS workflows.
- Proven ability to use multiple business analysis elicitation techniques to bridge communications seamlessly between business stakeholders and IT developers.
- Self-starter with excellent time management skills, capable of working independently and flexibly within a global environment spanning multiple time zones.
- Ability to see the “big picture” relationships between different distribution technologies and corporate booking engines.
- Advanced skills in Excel (data modelling), PowerPoint (stakeholder presentations), and Word/Confluence (functional specifications).
