Role Description The Senior Automation Engineer is a full time, work from home 8pm to 5 am IST. responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automation systems that support neurology practice operations and related clinical workflows.
Projects include:
Automating patient scheduling and communication workflows
Integrating phone, fax, EHR and other healthcare systems
Building internal operational tools and dashboards
Automating referral and document-processing workflows
Creating work queues and exception-management systems
Automating billing and revenue-cycle workflows
Developing APIs and integrations between existing applications
Using AI/LLMs where they provide a clear advantage
Building systems that reduce repetitive administrative work
Helping develop VerityMD OS, our internal operations and automation platform
Responsibilities
Design and build production-ready internal applications and automations
Develop backend services and APIs using Python
Build lightweight web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript
Design and maintain SQL databases
Connect third-party platforms through REST APIs and webhooks
Develop reliable workflow automations
Integrate AI models into appropriate workflows
Implement logging, monitoring, error handling and audit trails
Handle authentication, permissions and sensitive healthcare data appropriately
Work closely with operations staff to understand workflows before automating them
Document systems so they can be maintained by other engineers
Identify opportunities where automation can eliminate manual work
Qualifications
4–7 years of software engineering experience
Strong Python
Strong experience with REST APIs, webhooks and integrations
JavaScript/TypeScript
SQL and relational databases
Backend application development
Git/GitHub
Cloud deployment experience with AWS, Azure or GCP
Authentication/API security
Workflow automation
Experience building and maintaining production systems
AI Experience
We want someone comfortable using modern AI development tools rather than someone whose only experience is building basic chatbot wrappers.
Experience with the following is valuable:
OpenAI/Anthropic or similar APIs
Structured LLM outputs and tool/function calling
AI-assisted document processing
Prompt design and evaluation
RAG/vector search where appropriate
AI coding tools
Building guardrails around AI workflows
Controlling model/API costs
Experience with any of the following is a strong plus:
U.S. healthcare
EHR/EMR integrations
Epic or healthcare APIs
HL7/FHIR
Revenue cycle management
Medical billing
Contact-center/VoIP integrations
RingCentral
Electronic fax/document processing
Looker or other BI tools
HIPAA/security requirements
