Description:

Seeking Apigee Developer, who can play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our APIs, and be an SME (Subject matter expert) for Apigee Edge/X/Hybrid Stack with CICD/pipelines/ELK/Microservices/Az functions/Bigquery/PowerBI/API.

Key Responsibilities

API Development & Management:

Design, develop, and deploy API proxies, target endpoints, and shared flows on both Apigee Edge and Apigee X platforms, adhering to architectural standards and best practices.

Implement various Apigee policies (e.g., security, traffic management, mediation, error handling) to enforce API governance and optimize performance.

Manage and maintain API configurations, environments, and virtual hosts within Apigee.

CI/CD Pipeline Contribution

Collaborate with DevOps and Framework teams to evolve and maintain CI/CD pipelines for API deployment, testing, and promotion across different environments.

Comprehensive API Testing & Quality Assurance:

Perform end-to-end integration testing, including scenarios where external systems (e.g., ServiceNow forms) consume Apigee APIs. This involves verifying UI functionality in the consuming application and meticulously validating API requests, responses, and data integrity at the Apigee layer.

Ensure APIs consistently return accurate data and appropriate response codes (e.g., 2xx, 4xx, 5xx).

Apigee Migration & Defect Resolution:

Actively participate in the migration efforts from Apigee Edge to Apigee X, identifying and resolving compatibility issues and technical challenges.

Analyze, troubleshoot, and fix defects related to Apigee proxy functionality, policies, shared flows, and overall API performance during and after migration.

Documentation & Collaboration:

- Apigee Development:



Strong understanding of Apigee (X and Hybrid) with hands-on experience in implementing and managing API proxies, applying security and traffic management policies, and building CI/CD pipelines for API deployments.
- The “Detective” Mindset: Excellent at analyzing issues, troubleshooting complex integration challenges, interpreting logs, and performing root cause analysis to resolve API and platform-related problems.
- Cloud & DevOps Savvy:

Practical experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure services.
- Hands-on expertise in Azure DevOps Pipelines and Azure Functions for automation, deployment, and integration scenarios.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and their application in cloud environments.
- Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to developers, collaborate across teams, and provide guidance on improving API design and implementation practices.
- Tech Stack: Good working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, and Node.js to extend and customize API behavior.
- Kubernetes / AKS: Familiarity with Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for containerized application deployment and management is an added advantage.
- Advanced API Security & API Hub: Knowledge of advanced API security concepts,



API governance, and API Hub capabilities is considered a plus.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for API designs, configurations, shared flows, and operational procedures.

Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, other developers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, scalable API solutions.

Mandatory skills

- Hands-on experience in API development and management using Apigee Edge and/or Apigee X.
- Strong understanding of API design principles (RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications).
- Proficiency in configuring Apigee policies, target servers, KVMs, and virtual hosts.
- Experience with CI/CD methodologies and tools relevant to API deployment (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
- Solid experience in API testing, including manual and automated testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, cURL).
- Demonstrable experience with PowerShell scripting for automation, testing, and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with Java for custom Apigee policies (ServiceCallout, JavaCallout) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of web technologies including HTTP/S, JSON, XML, OAuth, and API security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cooperative team environment.

Desired skills

- Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization .
- Experience with monitoring tools for API performance and health (e.g., Splunk, Grafana).
- Apigee certification is a plus.
