Company Description The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR), Government of India, is the central authority responsible for the management, conservation, and sustainable use of water resources across the country. The department focuses on river development, flood management, groundwater assessment, and the rejuvenation of major river systems, including the Ganga.

It works on policy formulation, implementation of large-scale water projects, and scientific research to support evidence-based decision-making. The Ministry collaborates with national and state agencies, research institutions, and communities to ensure water security and resilience. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Scientist role based in Dehradun. The Scientist will conduct research and analysis related to water resources, river systems, hydrology, and environmental impacts, using scientific methods and relevant data.

Responsibilities include designing and executing field studies, collecting and interpreting hydrological and environmental data, and preparing technical reports, policy briefs, and scientific publications. The role involves supporting water management projects, contributing to modeling and forecasting, and providing scientific inputs for planning, monitoring, and evaluation of programs.



The Scientist will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, coordinate with other government bodies and research institutions, and participate in reviews, meetings, and stakeholder consultations as required.

Qualifications

- Robust foundation in water resources, hydrology, environmental science, civil / water resources engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Experience with field surveys, data collection, and analysis methods relevant to river systems, groundwater, and watershed management.
- Ability to use scientific and statistical tools, modeling software, and GIS or remote sensing applications for water resource studies (experience with any of these is beneficial).
- Proficiency in technical writing, including preparation of scientific reports, research papers, and concise documentation for policy and project work.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with government, academia, and field offices.
- Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field; prior research, project, or government-sector experience in water-related domains is an advantage.
