Safety Supervisor

Position Summary

Northstar Safety Systemz Pvt. Ltd. is hiring qualified and experienced Safety Supervisors for deployment at the manufacturing plants of a leading cable manufacturing company in Gujarat.

The role carries direct, shop-floor responsibility for safe plant operations across every shift conducting safety rounds, verifying work permits, driving toolbox talks, inspecting equipment and reporting observations. The objective of the engagement is to achieve ZERO incidents and accidents in operations.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

- Diploma in Engineering — Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or equivalent discipline, AND
- PDIS (Post Diploma in Industrial Safety) or ADIS (Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety) from a recognised institute.

Note: Candidates holding a B.Sc. with strong relevant experience may be considered in exceptional cases.

Experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience in Safety within any engineering industry or projects environment.
- Prior experience of imparting safety training to contract workmen is essential.
- Exposure to a manufacturing plant environment will be preferred.

Age

- Candidate must be 18 years of age or above, as per the applicable Labour Act.

Key Responsibilities The activities below are to be carried out as per the daily and monthly planner approved by the Plant Safety In-charge / Engineer-In-Charge.

Daily Responsibilities

1. Ensure safety in plant operations during every shift — take continuous rounds of the plant and prevent unsafe acts and unsafe conditions by employees and contractors.
2. Ensure Toolbox Talks (TBT) / PEP talks are conducted by line engineers and supervisors in each shift; participate actively and improve their effectiveness.
3. Carry out plant inspections to identify unsafe acts and unsafe observations, and report them in the ETQ system.
4.



Conduct plant inspections as per the checklist and mandate provided by the Site Safety Head, and ensure compliance in every shift.
5. Carry out cross-verification of closed and complied observations.
6. Ensure all non-routine and maintenance activities follow the Permit To Work (PTW) system — inspect and verify permit conditions and compliance across all locations, covering hot work, preventive and breakdown maintenance, and project work.

Periodic & Ongoing Responsibilities

1. Inspect tools and equipment as per the prescribed checklist — forklifts, cranes, welding machines, lifting machines, machine guards, tools and tackles, and electrical work — and maintain the related records.
2. Drive and conduct On-the-Job Training (OJT) for new workmen along with line engineers, as per the defined training plan and calendar.
3. Organise safety promotional campaigns to build safety awareness and motivation among workers, as scheduled.
4. Report incidents and accidents occurring during the shift to the concerned authorities, participate in the initial incident investigation, and initiate immediate corrective action as required.
5. Conduct localised mock drills during shift operations (monthly).
6. Submit a monthly report covering all monthly deliverables.
7. Carry out any other safety activity introduced and assigned by the Engineer-In-Charge.

Pre-JoiningTraining All selected candidates will undergo a mandatory Safety Orientation Training programme arranged by Northstar before joining at site. A completion certificate will be issued and submitted to the client's Site Safety Head.

Working Conditions & Terms of Employment

Working Pattern

- 8 hours per day, 6 days per week, as per the deployment schedule approved by the Engineer-In-Charge.
- Candidates must be willing to work in shifts, and on Sundays and holidays, as per job requirement.
- No continuous duty beyond 12 hours, except in the case of critical jobs or an emergency. Compensatory off will be provided where applicable.
- The Safety Supervisor is required to be available at the assigned manufacturing location at all times during duty hours.

- Basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), provided at site on deployment.
- One time Food at client site

Other Terms

- Notice period of 2 months applies to all deployed personnel.
- Selection is subject to a personal interview conducted by the client's Plant Safety Head / Engineer-In-Charge / HSE team. Only approved candidates will be deployed at site.
- Compensation will be commensurate with qualification and experience, and will be discussed at the time of the interview.
