About the Role
We are looking for a QA/QC Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background who can take ownership of both Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities.
The ideal candidate should be hands-on with shop-floor quality, while also being capable of building systems, documentation, processes, vendor quality, ISO 9001 compliance, and manufacturing capabilities.
This is a role for someone who wants to go beyond inspection and help us build a stronger, more capable and process-driven manufacturing organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Control – QC
- Perform incoming, in-process and final inspection of components and assemblies
- Review drawings, specifications,
tolerances and quality requirements.
- Develop and implement inspection plans, check sheets and quality control procedures.
- Coordinate dimensional inspection and testing as required.
- Identify non-conformities and ensure proper corrective action.
- Conduct root-cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone and 8D.
- Monitor rejection, rework, customer complaints and other quality KPIs.
- Ensure proper calibration and control of measuring instruments.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
2. Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Develop and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Prepare and control quality-related documents, procedures, work instructions, formats and records.
- Maintain document control and traceability.
- Establish SOPs and standard quality processes.
- Maintain quality records and ensure timely closure of documentation.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Identify process gaps and implement continuous improvements.
3. ISO 9001
- Take ownership of day-to-day ISO 9001 QMS implementation and compliance.
- Prepare the organization for ISO audits and surveillance audits.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate corrective/preventive actions.
- Track audit observations and ensure timely closure.
- Ensure departments follow documented processes.
- Continuously improve the QMS rather than treating ISO as only a documentation exercise.
4. Vendor Development & Vendor Quality
- Identify, evaluate and develop current manufacturing vendors.
- Assess vendor capabilities, infrastructure, machinery, processes and quality systems.
- Develop vendors for machining, fabrication, sheet metal, casting, forging, finishing and other relevant processes.
- Conduct vendor audits and process assessments.
- Establish vendor quality requirements and inspection criteria.
- Monitor vendor performance, rejection rates and delivery quality.
- Work with vendors to improve manufacturing processes and reduce rejection/rework.
- Develop alternate and capable vendors to strengthen the supply chain.
5. Manufacturing Capability Development
- Evaluate existing and potential manufacturing processes and capabilities.
- Identify the right manufacturing process for components based on drawings, material, tolerances, quantity and cost.
- Develop manufacturing capabilities internally or through suitable vendors.
- Work with production, design and sourcing teams to improve manufacturability.
- Support DFM/DFA and process improvement initiatives.
- Help establish process parameters, quality standards and acceptance criteria.
- Identify opportunities for improving productivity, consistency and process capability.
6. Continuous Improvement
Drive reduction in rejection, rework, customer complaints and manufacturing variation.
