Role DescriptionWe are looking for a proactive and result-oriented Purchase & Vendor Development Officer to manage end-to-end procurement and supplier development activities.

The candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, components, consumables, machining and fabrication services, and other industrial requirements while ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery.

The role involves close coordination with PPC, Production, Quality, Stores, Design, Accounts, and Management to ensure uninterrupted production and efficient procurement.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify, develop, and onboard new suppliers and vendors.
- Source raw materials, plates, forgings, castings, fasteners, consumables, machining and fabrication services.
- Generate RFQs and obtain competitive quotations from multiple suppliers.
- Compare quotations based on price, quality, delivery, payment terms, and overall commercial value.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, credit periods,



delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
- Prepare Purchase Orders and ensure accurate documentation.
- Follow up with vendors for timely delivery of materials and services.
- Develop alternate and backup suppliers for critical materials and processes.
- Maintain and regularly update the approved vendor database.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams for supplier-related quality issues.
- Support cost reduction and vendor development initiatives.
- Monitor pending Purchase Orders and ensure timely closure.
- Coordinate with Stores and Accounts regarding material receipt, invoices, and payment-related issues.
- Maintain purchase records, quotation comparisons, vendor data, and procurement reports.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures and quality requirements.
- Continuously improve the purchasing and vendor development process.

Vendor Development FocusThe candidate should be capable of developing a strong supplier network for:
- Steel plates and sheets
- Forgings and rings
- Castings
- Machining services
- Fabrication services
- Welding consumables
- Fasteners and industrial hardware
- Bearings and industrial components
- Cutting and outsourced processes
- Packing materials
- General engineering consumables

Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in Purchase, Procurement,



or Vendor Development.
- Experience in a manufacturing / engineering industry is preferred.
- Good knowledge of industrial materials, components, and engineering services.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Ability to identify and develop new vendors.
- Good analytical skills for quotation comparison and cost evaluation.
- Strong follow-up and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Purchase Requisition, RFQ, Quotation Comparison, Purchase Order, and supplier evaluation processes.
- Positive working knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Production, PPC, Quality, Stores, Accounts, and Management.
- Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Commerce, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field preferred.

Preferred CandidateCandidates with experience in pump & valve, heavy engineering, fabrication, machining, steel, forging, foundry, or industrial manufacturing will be preferred. Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
