ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: CIVIL PROJECT ENGINEER1. COMPLETE SITE MANAGEMENT &
- WORK EXECUTION
- Daily Workflow Control: Plan, schedule, and lead all day-to-day construction activities on-site from opening to shutdown.
- Drawing Interpretation: Read, interpret, and execute work strictly according to structural blueprints, architectural drawings, and MEP layouts.
- Quality Assurance: Supervise critical concrete pouring, slab casting, column starters, proper water curing, and the secure tying of column gunny bags.
- Wastage Prevention: Ensure strict monitoring of concrete mixes to completely eliminate excessive slurry spillover and material waste.
- Site Safety &
- Cleanliness
: Maintain safety protocols for all site workers and ensure the site is cleaned regularly after daily casting operations.
2. TECHNICAL CALCULATIONS &
- REINFORCEMENT CONTROLS (BBS &
- QUANTITIES)
- Bar Bending Schedules (BBS): Independently calculate and prepare detailed Bar Bending Schedules for steel reinforcements in columns, beams, slabs, and foundations.
- Quantity Estimation: Perform precise pre-construction quantity take-offs for cement, sand, coarse aggregates, reinforcement steel, and structural cover blocks.
- Material Reconciliation: Track daily material consumption against actual work done to detect and stop theft or unexplained material drops on site.
- Structural Alignment: Ensure the correct placement of cover blocks for columns, beams, and slabs before giving the green light for concrete pouring.
3. VENDOR &
- CONTRACTOR HANDLING
- Labor Coordination: Directly handle, assign tasks to, and manage multiple sub-contractors,
piece-rate workers, and civil labor forces.
- Conflict Resolution: Resolve daily disputes between different working groups in office to keep construction moving without delays.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor contractor speed against the project master timeline and issue warning notices if a contractor falls behind schedule.
- Work Verification: Conduct physical measurements of completed works to confirm they match specified contractual agreements.
4. INVOICING, BILLING &
- FINANCIAL CONTROL
- Contractor Bill Verification: Verify sub-contractor measurement sheets against ground reality on a per-square-foot (Sft) or item-rate basis.
- Client Invoice Generation: Prepare, document, and submit accurate Running Account (RA) bills and monthly progress invoices to the management.
- Price Compliance Check: Cross-check contractor bills against fixed contract rates (such as verifying general area work at 12/Sft and slab work at 11/Sft).
- Daily Documentation: Maintain structural registers, material delivery logs, test reports (cube testing), and submit the Daily Progress Report (DPR).
5. RAILWAY SITE INFRASTRUCTURE COMPLIANCE (SPECIALIZED)
- Railway Standard Adherence: Ensure all structural construction matches Indian Railways Unified Standard Specifications and safety manuals.
- Liaison Support: Assist management during inspections conducted by Railway authorities, RVNL, or third-party quality control auditors.
- Logbook Maintenance: Maintain specialized railway site registers, including safety logbooks, track block logs, and material test certificates.
